How many of you think certain sports or games are rigged?

The more I watch and the older I get, the more I believe that certain games are fixed. I'm far from a conspiracy theorist or anything of that nature. I just think a good number of events here and there are rigged.

IMO, the NBA game today between the Nets and Hawks was rigged. That's what made me bring this up.

Just wondering if I'm in the minority or not.

Are you talking about the leagues rigging games on a large scale or just individual players/refs being on the take? I wouldn't doubt the latter, but the former has absolutely zero chance of happening. There's no way these leagues would chance losing all of the money they're raking in by intentionally fixing games on a large scale.

I don't bet. If I was a betting man, I would have laid a ton of money on the nets. before the game, I was telling some friends who play streak for the cash to take the nets.

My father is convinced the NFL is rigged.

He claims, "These guys get paid to catch a football but drop wide open 5 yard passes. If I dropped the ball at my job, they'd be dropping my nuts out the plant."

0% chance any of the real sports are rigged. At least by the leagues themselves. Maybe they'll assign referees who they know have biases or whatever, but that's as far as they'd dare go. Finding out that games are rigged would destroy any league that was found out. Not to mention secrets of this size would eventually come out, or at least be whispered about. Humanity is not that good at keeping secrets

I don't think the games are rigged, but I do think there is inherit biased built in to the games. Sports' itself has too many unknown variables to truly "rig" them.

The NBA is totally rigged, no question about it

I still enjoy it though

i think in the case of the game I'm talking about today, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the league had a little fix on. on the large scale, no way. like, i would never believe the NFL would rig the outcome of the playoffs. and i think that's entirely too difficult for them to do, outside of the NBA with the lottery.

mostly i'm talking about smaller scale with refs and individual players.

If you look into the deep web there is a site that allows you to bet into rigged games. Idk if you know specifically which ones are rigges though.

I wouldnt say "rigged". But i do think there are some outside influences in sports. Might not change the outcome of a game, but it does tweak the game.

And I do consider refs part of that outside influence. They are normal people too. There is no way that they are completely unbiased. Even if its not the team where they are from or cheered for as a kid. Refs like certain coaches and players over others.

This right here.

Also, for games to be rigged on a large scale would take a lot of athletes/refs keeping quiet. Which is not the easiest thing to accomplish.

Define "rigged" in some cases.

The NBA may not have set outcomes, but the choice of officials used by the NBA sure seems to influence the outcome at times.

Certain officials are notoriously more whistle-happy than others, especially if one team seems to be pulling too far away from the other early in the game.

Football is too difficult to rig, and there is too much parity so in order to actually rig outcomes and script things to happen, it would be too obvious

Basketball is much easier to control and to script from the top, with only 5 players on the court, only like 3-4 real contenders, and officials having WAY too much power

every sport has an integrity issue. I believe that I have watched one game in every major sport that was, not rigged, influenced intentionally by an official with vegas on the brain

it was so bad in the NBA, I stopped watching entirely. the kings/lakers game 6 was it for me.

hochuli in 08 must have been in some mobsters pocket because I have absolute faith that the chargers broncos/saints Vikings games from that year were a result of his interest in vegas.

i guess pushing the outcome in a certain direction. maybe not forcing one team to win or lose in every case but to keep games close so the money sways one way.
