if we happen to miss out on some of these DL recruits and are left with young and inexperienced DL, do we think about moving one of our OL to the DL?

We have a lot of large backup OL, could it work?

usually, you go the other direction.

guy comes in as a DL, not athletic enough, moves to OL.

it's not like we have a lot of experienced depth at OL either.

the potential of our DL sophomores, freshmen, and RS-freshmen is greater than the potential of switching an OL to defense.

Don't sell guys like Herron and Gilmore and others short just yet. Remember, Michael Brockers was redshirted.

Gilmore and Bain will surprise people next year.

I think the most likely move has already been mentioned on The Rant — Jones back to LB after a one-year stint as a little-used FB. If that's the case, maybe Beckwith will be locked in as a down/edge lineman?

Doesn't address your concern for interior guys ...

We literally have 7/8/9 DT on the roster. How do we not have depth.

I really really like what I saw out of Lacouture for a true freshman. He's got a bright future.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, but landing recruits won't fix the problem of "young and inexperienced".

I think the depth is pretty good.

DE- J.Allen,J.Maclin,J.Rasco,D.Hunter,T.Bower,
M.Patterson and L.Neil.

DT- Q.Thomas,C.LaCouture,M.Bain,G.Gilmore, F.Herron and M.Johnson.

Add in Davon Godchaux and mabye Valintine and Speeks and we will be fine.

Beckwith is moving back to LB.

Is Herron staying inside or outside?

i honestly think our d-line will be better than it was last year. the freak underachieved during his time at LSU IMHO. yes the interior will be young but the kids have played alot, and hunter and rasco came on stromg at the end of the year i think both of them can take a big leap and become a force to recon with. im not crowing them the second coming of keke and sam but i do think they will be very ver good. we shall see but thats what i think.

I see Herron moving inside myself, and nothing is for sure that Beckwith is moving to LB, he can play both if needed.

Yea I see Herron moving inside as well.

Bain is going to be a monster. His high school coach called him an athlete, not just a DL. Went both ways full time in high school. Hes 6'4 315lbs and ran with DBs and skill position players in workouts / practice during conditioning drills. Also was a good bball player that averaged 19pts and 11 rebs. And he can throw it down. Thats impressive for a guy that big.

Were going to be fine with DL depth. We have QT , and a lot of young and very talented DL. Also have Godchaux coming in, and hopefully Valentine / Speaks. We will be fine.
