Enbridge's Northern Gateway Pipeline receives approval from Canada's National Energy Board.

Happened a few weeks ago and I don't recall seeing anything posted on here. I found a few old Keystone XL threads to bump but most had devolved into utter nonsense.

The canucks are going to bring their natural resources to market and refusing to build the Keystone XL pipeline only ensures that we will not enjoy the benefits (jobs + supply) of bringing an additional friendly and significant source of liquid hydrocarbons online in the US.

There is no global warming argument to be made here. This material will be refined into fuel and other products for consumption on Earth. Not building the Keystone will not stop that.

An excerpt from a speech delivered by Jimmy Carter in 1977..

quote:

The fourth principle is that we must reduce our vulnerability to potentially devastating embargoes. We can protect ourselves from uncertain supplies by reducing our demand for oil, making the most of our abundant resources such as coal, and developing a strategic petroleum reserve.

Jimmy Carter sounds downright pragmatic compared to what we have to deal with now coming out of DC.

I applaud her effort on this issue.

From the Landrieu article..

The White House is waiting on “the science,” she said.

The Keystone XL extension was proposed in 2008. Six years for an impact study for one pipeline?

Maybe if she wouldn't give so much time and resources to those who oppose the oil industry, she would be more successful in her "push" for this. Playing both sides for political purposes keeps things static and her in power.

It has never been about science for this administration. It's about emotion. The emotion of the enviro nut bags.
