On January 21st, Louisiana’s House Committee for Administration Of Criminal Justice will meet to discuss marijuana legalization in the Bayou State. A poll conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) in August of 2013 shows that 65% of Louisiana residents support legalizing marijuana for medical purposes and 64% of respondents also opposed current Louisiana law which allows life sentences for marijuana possession if the defendant has a prior felony record.

I would guess the support for non-medical purposes would be close-ish.

65% of Louisianians support medical marijuana yet it probably won't pass. Looks to me as if the representatives aren't representing their constituents if it doesn't pass.

Medical marijuana could pass. Full blown legalization could take 25 years in Louisiana.

Also the drinking age should be 18.

Have a lawyer friend in Colorado and she is saying the hardest thing there right now is where to put all the cash. Colorado will make so much money of this new law that other states will fall into place. But with the oil filed being here and the new safe gulf good luck with that.

Bottom line: Does a Legislator think that he/she can be re-elected by voting in favor of this? What do you Poli-board guys think?

which is rather sad. I could see LA being one of the handful of states that are the last to make this legal.
