Now that's a 17.6 lb bag of crap. Wish I had whatever my wife spent on it back. Burns as fast as a dried cow patty. shite disappears like Frikkin Houdini

I don't have a problem with it for burgers, but for a long smoke, or cooking at high temperatures, there's definitely better out there
Also, it sparks like a son of a bitch when lighting

I love royal oak lump. Have had nothing but good luck with it

Yeah you gotta be careful with lump. You'll find treated wood chunks in a cheaper bag.
Stick to 100%, no filler.
Buy away from normal retail outlets, don't buy lump from wally etc

I normally buy the BGE which works well for me. I've for a boatload of chicken on my egg and I have used half of the 17 lb bag and I've got it almost closed down.

I use it all the time. My only complaint is that sometimes the pieces are very, very small and burn out quickly.

Has anyone tried the new Stubb's charcoal?

I use Royal Oak almost exclusively now. I think what the OP is getting at is the large bags vs the usual 8.8 lb bags.
I bought a large bag once and I would agree with the OP that is was noticeably smaller chunks than the small bags. So now, I stick with the smaller bags and no issues.

Publix lump is rated high by "The Naked Whiz" website. I've used it for 2+ years with no problems.

The Kamado Joe brand lump is actually Wicked Good lump brand. Very very good with a lot of big pieces. Some were too big and I had to trim them down to size with a hatchet. I like this stuff, and also Ozark Oak.
Bought some Fire King lump at Busch which I have yet to try.

I always get Kingsford. It doesn't burn out, stays warm even when it's just the red coals.
I'm not fan of the Match light stuff, even though it lights quickly. The food ends up having a weird taste, to me. Especially if you're grilling something that will be on the pit for a while like ribs.

I find the cheaper the better.
I don't use lump for long cooks though. Steak, chicken strips, pork chops, burgers. Anything more than that I use regular Kingsford charcoal

Well maybe I just got a bad batch and it was mostly small, but it disappeared like an Ethiopian down a shower drain.
Chicken came out great though.
