15 days into the year and the top bars for 2014 have already been decided.

Eh. Draft list isn't all that impressive. At least not enough to make up for the douchey waitstaff and pretentious atmosphere.

Hay Merchant though...

The Hay Merchant and Mongoose Vs. Cobra made the list. Those are both really good places.

gonna have to disagree with you.. They don't have anywhere close to the selection. The Nook has 400+ beers available at all times and prolly 60 on tap. BTR prolly half that.

I can vouch for the 2 in GA, Brickstore and The Porter as well as Beer Revolution and The Trappist in Oakland and Mikkeler Bar in SF.

All are excellent.

Hay Merchant and Petrol Station in Houston are both regular stops for me when I go there.
Need to go to Mongoose vs Cobra next time

Nice. I'll keep those 2 in Ga. on the backburner for my next visit over there for a Braves game.

Also I can vouch for Top Hops, Rattle N Hum, and Blind Tiger in NYC . All are quality. Plus Deep Ellum outside of Boston, which is great. Need to check out The Jeffrey and Proletariat next time I'm in NYC.

Spuyten Duyvil in Brooklyn has a great beer selection but is filled with and staffed by hipster frickheads. Makes it not worth going.

Yea, not sure how they made it.

Nobi Public House is the best beer bar in the Houston area behind Hay Merchant and Petrol Station...unfortunately, no one wants to drive out to Clear Lake to drink there.

At one point in December this was their tap list and they were allowing growler fills on everything.

I'd put Petrol Station solidly between the two

Mongoose Vs. Cobra gets extra points because I can walk there though

Hill Farmstead apparently shipped a bunch of kegs to the NYC area in the past few week.

May be worth checking them out of twitter and seeing when they pop up.

No I lived in midtown west. Not terribly familiar with Brooklyn. I would check out any of the beer joints listed in the OP, outside of Spuyten Duyvil. They're probably pretty solid joints. Spuyten Duyvil may even be your thing, but when I went with my gf and her friend we didn't like it. I know 12Pence went as well with a buddy when he was in NYC last year and they corroborated the hipster douche quality of the place.

If you're in Brooklyn I can tell you that Fette Sau is a bbq joint that also has a great scotch selection and it's a really cool spot. Food is phenom.

The nook has a crappy atmosphere. I haven't been in awhile so I'll give it another shot but I don't care about how many beers a bar has on tap I care about the quality and how often they rotate new beers, which BTR seems to do a good job with.

Check out the sixpoint brewery. I was going to last month but they were closed for renovations.
