So Auburn haters... can you explain this?
From Wikipedia: Grimes has helped developed a number of highly-rated players. Twelve of his former players went on to play professionally in the National Football League including Andrew Carnahan, Edwin Harrison, Matt Hill, Drew Hodgdon, Levi Jones (the 10th overall pick of the 2002 draft), Eddie Keele, Kyle Kosier, Jake Kuresa, Scott Peters, Tyler Polumbus, Travis Scott and Scott Young. Nine of them were awarded All-Conference honors including Carnahan, Hodgdon, Jones, Kosier, Peters, Scott, Kuresa, Young and Hill.

No. Jeff Grimes is clearly horrible. Everyone else in the SEC says so. Miles is showing how dumb he is to hire him.
Clearly, he was terrible at Auburn, but now the guy that they have is perfect and LSU will deconstruct because they hired him.
I am getting pretty sick of the SEC in general.
Kiffin was a terrible hire by Alabama no matter what, but I actually liked the Malzahn hire and pulled for Auburn this year after LSU was out of it. 5 seconds reading comments by Auburn fans on this board reminds me of why I used to dislike them so much.
Still, I am happy that Auburn had a good season.

We are just giving our opinion on the man. He did choose to start The Matador AJ Greene twice. Don't see how anyone could be excited over him and his senioritis.

I think its a great hire personally.
His recruiting will bring the talent in and that's good. He is good at teaching and developing young linemen. Hard to judge him on the finished product because he rarely is still around when the kids are finished. Anyone that saw Greg Robinson in hs and then saw his freshman year then sophomore year and the progress he made, knows that Grimes does a good job developing. Robinson was developed prior to this year. He just continued to develop under the new coach and it clicked. OL development isn't a 1 or 2 year project. For a kid as raw as Robinson was, it was a 3 year project from the start. Without Grimes work his 1st 2 years Robinson would notbe the guy touted as the 1st OT to be taken in this draft. Young OL playing below average is not something that can be ccompletely blamed on the OL coach. Look at Cyrus K. That kid has been touted as the next big time tackle since hs but still is a good ways from being a star college OT much less a pro one. He was coached by the supposed great Bama OL development team. Its perception

I say robinson is. He's always been a talent, he was in his third year where the mental part of the game starts to meche with the physical. I think he turns out the way he did no matter who the coach is.
I've seen a lot of players have break out years in their third year. A lot were coached by the same coach the prior year and a lot were with different coaches.
The consistant thing with AU's two n.c. runs was an experienced offensive line. something both coaches get credit for. Grimes when they won the n.c. and the guy this year.
I've always said, it's amazing how smart and dumb a coach becomes based on a player gained or a player lost. Grimes became average after the offensive line graduated. Gene was genius when cam played. Gene gets fired when cam leaves.
I can say the same about myer and tebow. we'll see a lot this year with gus. I think it was telling gus got the hell out two years after the n.c., he was average the next year, and his stock was trending down. why? lack of players. If it was the coach, vandy would have a n.c. by now.

Said the same thing the Auburn guys are saying - this is not a 'great' hire. His 'hit list' of putting guys into the NFL is headlined by Levi Brown ffs...
This seems to be more of a recruiting hire than a coach 'em up hire. When it comes to recruiting, I just have to believe that if a guy - who was coaching up teammates in college - meets a recruit and introduces himself as the former president of the NFLPA ( which means yes, he has charisma ) and a future NFL Hall of Fame offensive linemen, that chances are, he won't have too many problems recruiting either.

Grimes almost cost us the NC in 2010 by playing AJ Greene ahead of NFL draft pick Brandon Mosley. He then decided to start AJ Greene at LT in 2011 which directly lead to Barrett Trotter losing confidence in himself and looking at the rush.
