Great article on the impact JH33 had for the LSU Tigers.

But Hill wasn't just LSU good. The last SEC running back to average 6.9 YPC on over 200 carries? No one. Never been done before. Only Garrison Hearst at Georgia in 1992 came close, posting 6.8 YPC on 228 carries.

That said it for me!

LSU's offense will take a huge step back next season.

At quarterback and receiver for sure. But as good as Hil was, Fournette is a once a decade type talent.

I think mainly it will take a step back cause of losing a 5th year senior qb

We have the team and players to match the production Hill gave us next year. Might not be from 1 person, but as a team we can match the rushing production from this past year. Especially with 4/5 OL coming back.

More worried about how we do in the passing game than the rushing game.

And Hill was awesome. Best of luck

This. I think Jennings will end up being really good for us, but it's going to take time. I am so glad he got some experience in the Iowa game...and he looked pretty damn good prior to the pic

But Tre' Mason got on the all SEC team :bang head:

I just think Hill's production and body of work on an offense like we had says so much more, but what are you gonna do.

Anyway, good luck J Hill and

I remember the first game Hill played in. Knew we had a new work horse. Just amazing breakaway speed for a guy that big and tough.

Hill is a great running back.
But keep in mind that part of the reason he put up such stellar numbers is that Zack, JL, and OBJ were also great. The defenses had to respect the pass and that made it easier to run*.

I think Hill is smart to go now. If he came back for another year, there is a real risk that he wouldn't look as good because he wouldn't have the same level of passing game to steal attention.

* yes, I know that he had a great performance against Iowa without Zack; but JL & OBJ were still in the game, and it was Iowa.

I agree but the amazing thing to me was his ability to bust a run at his size and leave CB's and the like in the dust.

When you are #1 in your draft category you are not going to improve any or much anyway by playing another year. Also at this point he is "Showroom New" with only about a year and a half of wear and tear on him at the college level. To my knowledge he had never been seriously hurt - someone else may have better info on that point.

Overall, best RB I've ever seen at LSU (1965-2013).

Not sure how long you've been watching LSU, but Hill is the best combination of size and speed since Charles Alexander. So, it's been 3+ decades since we've had a back of this type. 2nd best single season rushing in LSU history, only behind Alexander.

Not saying Fournette won't be better, but Jeremy Hill's don't come too often either.

It's close to inarguably IMO, and he'll never get the props he deserves.

Kid is so fvcking good. I am never one to advocate taking LSU players, but I'd give anything for the Saints to draft him in the 2nd or early 3rd.

Can we just like.. trade Ingram for a late 2nd/early 3rd and use it to trade up to grab Fournette without losing a pick?
