Not all social conservative positions are bad.

I wouldn't call some of the Republican social positions "conservative".

It isn't conservative to make choices on peoples lives. IMO.

OP question needs some work.

If they did that would make them libertarians correct?

What do you care what position any republican takes.

As long as there is an R next to their name you will vote for them.

It's coming and happening right now.

When we see no Santorums or bachmanns in the primaries in 2016, we'll have arrived.

Those are your words. You wrote them on this forum a few weeks ago.

They'd have to first be conservative.

Didn't you say that voting republican is a tradition for you and your family?

If you mean oppose affirmative action, I'll agree. If you mean support the war on drugs, or oppose gay marriage, I'll disagree.

Needs to be soon in La. If not, Mary is going to win again in the senate race.

No, I said that my family has supported republicans for at least a century. I never said I vote republican solely because my parents did.

The post asurob1 was referencing was most likely me lamenting the fact that politics in America is deeply rooted in family tradition.

Excellent point.

It's a gret example of paternal racism.

That's better than my family's political belief history. My Great Grandmother's brother was named after Woodrow Wilson

What would it matter. Most of this country votes on social issues. Especially the left. Do you think democrats get elected for the economic policies? No, they get elected because they are the champions of women's lib and gay rights.

Makes sense because I view Washington as an oligarchy that rules us. You have to have money and the right connections, not necessarily be connected by blood.

Most people on this board are probably only the second generation of their family to vote republican.
