It's all about the fast cash. What school can I go to where I will play as a freshman, take my bumps, make a name for myself in the second year, and then haul arse out after my junior year. It just seems like at LSU les gets the kids to come here, but then they get sick of playing for him or get into trouble and get out. Bottom line it's how can I make the money as fast as I can. Then when they don't get drafted high or not get drafted at all and don't make the teams, it's dam I should have stayed. FAST CASH!! Too many agents and scouts! Just like baseball wants them right away.

It's usually the smart move for someone who will get drafted. You have a limited shelf life as a football player.

You're a fricking dumbass.

The reason people get a degree is so they can increase their lifetime earnings.

A degree can be finished later. A running back typically has a short career so why would you waste seasons in college when you can get paid for it. The dude is going to get paid way more as a running back in one year than he would make in 10-20 years with a degree. It's called a smart financial decision. Take the fan glasses off.

It's pretty obvious this is what the staff is selling. Hard to keep a kid 4 years when you're selling him on the idea that the LSU program can get you to the NFL, and quickly.

Honestly think this is the reason for the mass defections, it's exactly what the staff is using for recruiting.

Schools all over are dealing with the same amount of defections. It has nothing to do with what the school is selling to recruits, and everything to do with the rookie wage scale.

If they don't make that "FAST CASH" what the hell else are they going to do? It's not like these kids are young professionals

Of course it does. Do you honestly think LSU doesn't use the NFL pipeline as a recruiting tool? Highly recruited kids are here for 3 years, not 4.

Bama players don't leave early because they don't want to take a pay cut.

Alabama, FSU, UF all have around the same amount of underclassmen leaving this year. Last year, LSU was an anamoly in the amount of draftable underclassmen.

Yes they use it, because it is a truth. It's not a self-fulfilling prophecy though. You think LSU was selling 3 years and to the draft to guys like Turner when they were recruits? That wasn't one of LSU's strong points when they were in high school.

Thanks for proving the point.

I have no doubt LSU, Alabama, FSU, U$C are all using 3 years then NFL to recruits.

When you recruit "blue chip" recruits, any program is going to use being NFL ready ASAP as a recruiting tool.

I'm not even sure why you're arguing.

Kids don't want to play for free for four years if they have the talent to start realizing their earning potential early. If you were a shite-hot CS major would you have turned down 300K from Google just to finish your degree?
