Good food. How long had this place been there?

I had the chicken parm. The breast was fried with the cheese on top, before the sauce, but it still tasted good. The sauce was good, really good. Garlicky and seasoned.

Pretty cool place in a cool area. It reminded me of a neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name...and the bartenders knew who the local alcoholics were. My dad, who grew up in the Marigny/Bywater area, used to tell me that dads would send their kids to the local "bar on the corner" with an empty pitcher so they could get a pitcher of beer and bring it home (back in the 30s and 40s). This struck me as being such a bar that would do that. Really good atmosphere and I was very satisfied with the parm.

My experience with Uptown is sparse as I'm just more familiar with the Bywater area. I wouldn't mind living in this area, myself. I'm referring to the area by Whole Foods and Winn Dixie.

Any other outstanding restaurants I should try out around there that don't cost an arm and a leg? I'll probably go maybe once a month or so.

When I was going to it the food was very solid, but that is a few decades ago and shite will happen in that amount of time especially the cooking. Hopefully the cooks will get their shite together quickly so the place can return to some degree of respectability again sooner rather than later.
