Your reasoning indicates that you are a novice naive noob when it comes to electronic music.

Negative, this is his first iTunes EDM top 10 selling track in the US.

So idk what you call a "hit" but this is his first. Even though Tove Lo makes the song.

Nice try though bitch.

30 million youtube views for his remix of I lose myself

83 million views for Under Control with Calvin Harris

o lets not forget his track tear the roof off.

He also went on late at night at Ultra Music festival while your girls Krewella went on during the day. I could keep posting more to make you look foolish. Once again you have no idea what you are talking about in terms of Electronic Music. You have shitty taste. Alesso is just more than alright. He has been big in the states for years.

No it's your same superficial shtick you have in any thread on any topic. You think you are the end all be all know it all and you're not. It's pathetic. What a terrible person you must be in real life.

I like how your shitty rebuttal is youtube views, which are international as much as anything so that proves absolutely nothing for his US fans.

The fact that he's never even been on the iTunes Top 10 until now in America = no, he's not been "big" or "huge" in the United States before this. Sorry, but I'll go with the #1 source for actual purchased music in the Country by a mile. And I'm not even talking iTunes overall top 10, I'm talking the EDM Top 10 chart on iTunes.

Heroes is also his first ever track in the US to land on the Billboard Top 100 charts, so all those other songs you mentioned have never even sniffed the Top 100 on the US at any point in time, but THIS song has has peaked at #80 already in it's first week, and #27 on the Mainstream Top 40 Billboard Chart, his first song to appear on it as well. I said he's "blowing up" in the States, because, well, as posted above, he is.

Not to mention how much Tove Lo carries this track, both vocally and with her ridiculous popularity right now (not that I care about that part of it, Tove Lo is amazing and Queen of the Clouds is a GREAT album).

yet he packs main stages in the states

you don't know what you are talking about with this genre of music. Alesso has been huge with electronic fans for a long time in the states. Lots of it has to do with his connections with SHM.

Billboard charts mean nothing to electronic fans b/c most people don't buy cd's or the music. It is rare dj's come out with albums. The most popular dj in the world the last two years Hardwell doesn't even have an album or US ranked billboard track, yet he has headlined Ultra, Electric Zoo, Tomorrowworld, EDC etc. Most electronic fans download sets, listen to the dj's radio shows or listen to xm/sirus or another form of internet radio. Arguably two of the best dj's the last 15 years Armin and Tiesto have had albums but they don't sell well b/c billboard is a non factor with the genre.

Now go sit in the corner noob.

Holy shite what a bunch of lies this is. Just admit you were wrong instead of digging yourself deeper bro.

Tiesto's last album debuted at #18 on the Top 100 chart, debuted that high. It opened in the US with 15K sales first week.

His 2009 album Kaleidoscope hit #59 on the Billboard Top 100 chart too.

Again, it goes back to you being you, thinking YOU saying he's been big means he's been big, when all the facts state the opposite.

If you think 18 and 59 are great then you are easily impressed. Tiesto is as mainstream as it gets and that's the best he could do. 15k sales in a week, b/c electronic fans don't buy albums. In the age of almost no one buying music legally billboard doesn't mean shite. Not sure how what I posted is lies. Hardwell is the perfect example. With your logic Hardwell isn't big.

Those are great. There is no thinking needed, any EDM album to get into the Top 100 is great. And EDM is as big as it's ever been in the US in the mainstream, and he was still able to put out Top 50 billboard albums 5 years ago.

In physical form, sure. iTunes sales, as well as other digital forms (Amazon, Google Music) are where the money and sales are at now.

Once again with this absurd logic you are saying Hardwell who is voted the most popular dj in the world the last two years is not big in the states. Since he has no top 100 US singles or albums. Yet he headlines and closes EDC, Ultra, TomorrowWorld etc. You don't know what you are talking about.

No, it's not even close to the truth. Unfortunately you're just one of those types of people, so much so that you throw around being in the military like it means anything on a message board, it's just sad you even resort to it, like a whole other level of sad.

Thank god none of my military friends are as superficial and full of themselves as you, they'd never throw around being in the military to be above anyone else or "more American" than someone else. This is just sad now.

But at least I pegged you correctly back in that GB thread when you were degrading women for being even the slightest out of shape. You truly are special.

This is an hilarious edit, considering I posted a video to a song and YOU were the one that started running your mouth derailing the thread to this. Stop starting shite over music and move on and the thread would be fine. Take your own fricking advice.

Actually I never throw it around. Only people who really know I am are other military members on this board, but you decide to insult me by calling me foreign.

Don't call me a foreigner, when I raised my right hand and pledge my life to our country its as simple as that.

Stop trying to play this military card again. And I called you foreign in relation to not knowing what is what in American mainstream music, the actual topic at hand. And I've said it to you more than once about being overseas and not knowing everything going on in America. But lulz@you trying to use that defense.

Are you dumb??? There is this thing call the internet. I listen to American radio all the time. I have been to the states twice this year. I have access to everything American I need. I have been to Ultra in Miami and Miami music week. This year. I am very informed on the US electronic music scene.

You assuming because one lives overseas means they don't know what is going on is false. Most the time I hear music on BBC1 before it even hits the states. Esp with electronic music.

That's not very much. Your EU/foreign knowledge is going to be significantly higher from living there than someone that doesn't. Again not calling you foreign calling the scene foreign, don't overreact again.

No, I'm saying because one lives overseas they're not going to know as much as someone that lives locally. Just like if someone from America went overseas, they'll know plenty, but not near as much as a local. And that goes for anything, sports or whatever else.

Oh and FTR, in the OP, I said "Alesso has a song starting to blow up" and posted a video to it. Never even said anything about Alesso being big or not in the States.

You then took it to another level for no real reason, and then bitch about derailment. That's rich.

And with that, I am done with the derailed topic. I would suggest just ignoring the post when I post more songs/videos in the future, and I've only posted 2 or 3 anyways.

It came off as a blanket insult not related to anything in general. Regardless it will get a negative reaction

You use this logic on other things. Once again its 2014 I can get everything American I need, from sports to music.

Dude you live in Missouri not exactly known as the hot bed of electronic music in the states. Unlike NYC, DC, Miami, LA, Vegas. You use someone being on regular radio or downloads as a measuring stick of blowing up. But in electronic music circles you are wrong. I have posted why you are wrong. The electronic music fan base is just different.

I will continue to us Hardwell as the perfect example and you really have no rebuttal to that.

What else could it mean. If he is blowing up then I guess he isn't big in your eyes. Fact is Alesso is a well known and popular dj in the electronic music scene in the states. He does major festival main stages in prime time slots.

Technically I live in Tampa Florida, but yes from Missouri and live there half the year yes. I could go to Ultra any year I wanted, 4 hour drive. Not for me, I'll never attend a single EDM show/festival/concert. Not my main genre of music or even 2nd and don't have any friends that listen to EDM other than casually a few songs here and there like me.

I posted a song that was on the radio and on MTV, places where EDM is rarely heard, mainstream radio stations and MTV. I don't listen to EDM other than a few hits that are catchy and that's about it, I have less than 30 songs on my iPod that are EDM and 2 albums. It's not my main music taste, I just like it from time to time.

You edited out the top part where I said my OP said nothing about Alesso, and the bottom quote isn't in the OP either. What I said after you rudely posted a reply isn't the OP. You told me to shut up for posting a music video link and saying that SONG is blowing up, and then went on about Alesso himself.

then don't try and lecture this thread about people blowing up just b/c you don't know about them.

Its like me going into a Taylor Swift thread you start and acting like an expert.

A better quality indicator of electronic music is beatport.

Changed the title to Electronic Music Thread, might as well keep it going and not make a new one for 2015.
