The U.N. released the first of four reports Friday that examines how climate change is affecting the earth—and the results aren’t optimistic. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found in its first report since 2007 that growing temperatures, rising oceans, and high CO2 levels are among the many things planet earth has to look forward to in the oncoming years, thanks mostly to fossil fuel emissions. The best part: the report blames it all on human activity.

I forget, what is the "perfect" global temperature and high above it are we currently?

My opinions on climate change science aside, the UN is the least trustworthy organization when it comes to this.

I don't trust a word that they say.

Humans are the problem.

So is the U.N. recommending an increase in war and disease in order to decrease the problem?

No you say? They actually want peace and increased efforts to cure diseases which will increase the problem?

Well then, they must approve of the status quo.

If you can't put all your trust and faith in the U.N. then who can you trust?

Climate change from what? What is the ideal temperature that we are trying to achieve? How much tax dollars and what regulation will it take to get to said temperature?

I'm good with giving them some $$$, under these conditions:

We must first get our $17 Trillion debt to zero and also get Social Security and Medicare solvent.

If we do that, I won't bitch about sending them a couple hundred billion.

Does it state what the ideal temperature for the Earth is? Or what our goal temperature should be? What are the costs and effort involved to reach that temp? What other external factors would help or hurt that effort? In what timeframe can it be achieved?

Until then, there's no real case for action.

You're right, since we know for a fact that the earth maintained a constant temperature for millions of years before humans came on the scene.

Great question.

How would we know if we have accomplished our goal if we don't know what it is?

the YA question

the issue is this: regardless of the ideal world temp, due to humanity building cities on the coast, we're stuck
