We all know the origins of super glue...if one were to harm himself within the home, would common day super glue still do the job? Or are there too many chemicals and/or toxins in today's super glue to make it safe?

Having not lived in the 1940s, I'm not sure.

Kinda depends on your definition of "severe"

Deep cut on my big toe, stepped on something walking to the kitchen in the middle of the night. Probably worthy of stitches, but I've elevated and wrapped in gauze. Bleeding seems to have subsided, but I'd like to "sew" it up and sleep soundly without fricking up my sheets

For all intents and purposes, I'd like to assume so.

If not, google magic my friend

If you aren't worried about it getting infected or don't think it's that bad, just wrap it tight enough to where it stops bleeding but don't do it too tight to where you're cutting off circulation. Wear an old sock you don't care about and for the love of god at least go to a clinic first thing in the morning.

But then again I'm a drunk 21 year old who doesn't know what the frick he's talking about, so good luck buddy.

OP, if it's just a toe wound and you can stop the bleeding, then I think you're fine.

Yeah, not too worried about it. It actually is a really deep cut, and I've been drinking (Saints game) but I'll be fine. Just wondering if there were any pitfalls to modern day super glue. I hate hospitals

You try a butterfly bandaid?

They use glue instead of stitches a lot now, but I'm sure it's sterile medical grade glue and not the kind you get at Home Depot.

My son used some a couple weeks ago on a bad cut on one of his fingers. The cut opened up a couple times, but he had no problems gluing it back together. It's healed up fine now. And yes, he should of had it looked at by a doctor.

Go buy a bottle of liquid bandage at the store. It stings like hell, but it will do the trick. Also buy those special bandaids that adhere to your fingers/toes. Put one over the liquid bandage. Good to go.

Ground cayenne pepper has tremendous blood clotting properties. Rubbing cayenne into a deep raw wound won't be pleasant but it will staunch the bleeding almost immediately.

So it needs stitches and you are just going to thought it out for the 5-10 days it will take to heal.

Luckily the cut isn't on something that you use very much...

Typing looks good, so I'm assuming it's not fingers.
