I went to the LSU Gymnastics meet last night, and they were awesome. It was announced that attendance was somewhere around 3300 or so. It was also announced that they broke a record for season tickets (didn't say how many), but let's just assume 1000 (at $30 each, that's $30,000). Tickets are $5, with kids (at least half of attendance last night) at $3.

Two banners were hung last night in the PMAC, for a Super Six appearance last year and an individual National Champion.

I'm wondering if Gymnastics is self-sustaining with the revenue they bring in?

In any case, D.D. Breaux and her staff have a fantastic program, and they are stacked for the next few years! (And poor Centenary last night looked like a bad high school team.)

It can be and in some places is one of the leaders in attendance outside of football. They are actually easy events to enjoy. They don't last long and there is a lot of action.

Yes, they are very enjoyable. Started at 7 and finished a bit after 9. Lots of crowd interaction; Mike the Tiger, the Band, Cheerleaders, Tiger Girls were all there.
If you've never been to a meet, make it a point to go this season. They are GOOD, and the meets are fun!

LSU has become a really good program. I went to my first Bama meet when I was a student. Alabama hosted the national championship that year and ended up winning. Coleman Coliseum was full (15,000+) and it was actually louder than a lot of basketball games I had been to. The floor exercise with the music and crowd interaction is really cool in a full arena.

With title IX I would assume the coaches salary eats up more than 30k

Somebody posted this on the rant yesterday. lol

Our team, girls, program and university deserve better! I stay away from any personality issues and ask how we keep a coach (making $150k+ extras) for 36 years when she loses to our rivals 80%+ of the time? Is there ANY excuse for this. Gym is a small pond and we do not put in what Ala and some others put in, but what coach/program in any sport in SEC history goes 36 years with one title (32 years ago) in a 6-7 team conf. and losses to rivals 80%+ of the time..answer...one program only..our gym team
