Has there ever been more of a blundering idiot for a hero than Jack Burton? He's so cocky and dumb, it becomes awesome.
"You know what old Jack Burton always says in times like these?"
"Who?"
"Jack Burton. Me!"
Thank you, Netflix for having me re-watch this movie.

Have you paid your dues?

Consider this: Jack Burton is actually the sidekick. Wang is the hero of this movie.

The movie clearly focuses on and relies on Burton. I think he brings all the courage and traditional gung - ho American attitude that I'm looking for in an action flick.
That's an interesting take though

One of my all time favorite flicks. Kurt is awesome in that movie.

I have it on my DVR. As much as I liked it, I realized I had no memory what so ever of any scene before the gang fight in the alley.
I had forgotten the first twenty minutes.
The whole thing makes for a great movie. I looked for it at Blockbuster. I would like to own it.

I've always liked that movie.
I love the part at Lo Pan's wedding when everyone starts yelling and fighting and Burton fires a couple shots in the air and it hits the ceiling, making some concrete fall on his head. Priceless.
"HAHA!"
blam blam
*gets knocked out by falling concrete

This film started life as a combination Western/Fantasy, and it morphed into something else, when the man behind Buckaroo Banzai was hired to extensively rewrite the script - it is almost a spiritual sequel to Buckaroo Banazi in that respect.
I must say it has not aged terribly well - however, it remains a guilty pleasure of mine. Cattrall was at her peak attractiveness, IMHO. Russell was finding his stride that began with his "grown up" turn with Escape from New York, and he and Carpenter made a solid team.
