I hope your inter-office memoranda will have more clarity than your TD post.

$8 per hour. 10% of any injury case you sign up. Hand out cards at hospital and courthouse. Isn't this how it's done?

Top 10% - Large organized firm between $800-$1200 a week doing legal research and participating in a structured program. No real world experience, just coddled office bitchery.

Top 25% - Mid-level firms doing legal research, some drafting and getting to sit in for court, depos, and client intake. Not a real resume popper because of the lack of big firm name but invaluable experience. $15 to $20 an hour.

Remaining private clerkships - small firms or solo practitioners doing virtually anything they ask. Some are valuable experience some is just office work.

State Clerkship - Some mild mild research and office work. Decent hours and you will have nothing to do 75% of the time.

I did a mid level and a state clerkship, and I got my first job from the same mid-level firm.

Or, you just know someone and get a sweet gig.

Top 50%, sat in court most of the time, the occasional research project, and $1300/week. Gotta love NOLA.

Sorry for not stating my question clearly. I understand that law clerk positions are largely dependent upon several variables (geographic location, class rank, law school, etc.), but I was hoping to get personal experiences of current or former law clerks. For example, the typical duration of the position, the type of work expected of a law clerk, how law clerks are perceived within the firm, compensation, and place where one is/was a clerk. Any information is greatly appreciated.
