The book was impossible to put down. Going see the film tonight, hope it compares. Im not going to lie, I was disappointed that Walhberg was going to playing Lutrell, but after watching a few trailers and interviews, it seems like he put his heart into the role and showed true respect.

This. I read the whole thing in 1 day like I was cramming for a book test in high school.

I too was skeptical of Marky Mark filling the role of Luttrell since he is like 5 foot something and Marcus is 6'3" or 4". However, I have heard that he was good to go with him and was on set quite a bit along with other SEALS to make sure they didn't frick this movie up.

Incredible movie. Theater was silent the entire time. I felt like I was in the combat. When I fell asleep last night I dreamed that contact was made in my neighborhood and a fire fight ensued.

ETA: for the OBers that know CC and RJ the SPS SEALS. I believe CC is a sniper on the same Team that Marcus was on. At least last I heard from Mr. LC was that he was going after the sniper cert. I know he is on 10, which is the team

Same here. I like Wahlberg, but they talked about Lutrell's height several times in the book (I think he was 6'5") so I thought it was odd they selected Wahlberg.

He's tall but I don't think that tall. Btw, I have no clue how he made it through BUD/S with his size. Them tall frickers going through catch the most hell because all the weight usually falls on them.

KingRanch Lone Survivor I'm not much of a reader

Audio books!!! That's how I "read" it. It was an awesome book, what I had envisioned i my mind fro the book doesn't look anything like the terrain I seen on the previews. I'll probably try and watch it Sunday after getting back from the lease.

ETA- I hate seeing Wahlberg play it also. Hate to ruin it for you guys, but Wahlberg is Anti-gun. I don't know how a man who has used guns in so many movies to make his living could be anti-gun. Several other suprising "action" actor are anti-gun.... Damn Hollywood.

CC from SPS is a tall fella too. He's about my height but as big as a refrigerator. The kid is huge.

pretty sure he is 6'5" and.. yeah... being that tall - not only makes it harder but you are also a common target...

I saw a group from 6 at belle chasse when I was still in reserves and it was comical because by and large - they were mostly 6 foot and below.

saw gunners were the big guys.

My brother is about 6' and he was taller than all of his instructors at BUD/S. I have seen Marcus before (he lives or lived not far from me) but did not actually go up to meet him. I am 6' too and he wasn't massively taller so just guessing about 6'3" or 4", but yeah, I bet he caught hell in his boat crew.

Going to see it tonight. Read the book and also Read Fearless as some other posters mentioned before. If you like Lone Survivor you must read Fearless.

BTW another poster mentioned downloading the movie online already. Check out Glowgaze.com to watch it.

Heard he's in the rescue chopper right?

HBO has a little documentary on the movie that was pretty good.

I think so. I bet that was real awkward for him to be in that scene considering the ooutcome. I bet watching that whole thing get made was surreal for him in general.
