Never tried this venerable establishment. Thinking about doing so.

Anybody have any insight?

Should I get the off-menu Chicken Bonne Femme? Do I have to request it ahead of time?

Any other suggestions otherwise? I know they sort of tweaked the menu recently, I was also wondering if anyone has been since that's been done.

Haven't been awhile. Bonne Femme is worth a try. Boiled brisket in vegetable soup is a classic

I realize it's a classic, but is it actually good? I've never in my life had boiled brisket, and frankly, it doesn't sound appealing in the least.

I haven't been there since the late 80's but all I really remember is the brisket and it was awesome back then.

It's much, much better than it sounds.

I've actually had the brisket at the French Quarter Fest. It is pretty damn good.

I think I'm going to try a new place in the Bywater, Oxalis, instead.

Brisket, chicken and red beans are all solid.

Best part is the bar. Love to duck in there when strolling around the quarter. It's never too busy and there are always a couple of local characters in there.
