No other potential Republican candidates have charisma or national appeal. If nothing else, a Christie demise would definitely help the Democrats.

Well I think this will sink him. And make it an easy shoe in for Hillary.

I'm not sure why everyone is assuming Hillary wins the nomination. She is sort of like the Romney "default candidate" Not the most inspiring of choices other than the fact that she would be the first female president.

Nah, he was too polarizing.

Why do you think Hillary is a viable candidate?

1. I don't see Hillary being the preemptive nominee. She carries a great deal of exploitable baggage. If she gets the nomination she'll be formidable but her challenge is getting past other dems who may seek the WH. Remember no one though she could be beat in 2008.

2. How about the GOP nominating a true conservative regardless of who the dems put forth?

Hopefully the GOP understands the following:
1) Ever since Ross Perot, allowing multiple "conservative" candidates splits the conservative vote and strengthens the democrats.

2) Having a moderate that isn't truly conservative only makes people indifferent and sheds votes to the democrats.

3) We need a guy in office that can clean up this fricking mess.

I don't. She has the inside track, but we've been there before. She is incredibly polarizing. She would also firm up the conservative base - instantly. Conservatives who haven't voted since 2000 will line up to vote against HRC.

Plus, blacks will stay home (at least more so than in 2008 and 2012) which brings HRC's coronation, even if nominated, in doubt.

Her load of baggage increases constantly, the latest being some of the material in Gate's book. Saw her on TV recently, and she looks like hell, I am betting that by 2015 health issues keep her out of the running.

Assuming Christie would get the nomination without this scandal is silly. We are too far out. Rarely does a poll leader 3 years out end up getting the nomination. The only exceptions are incumbents running for re-election.

Forget it, buddy. Christie CAN NOT beat Hillary.

Rush just mentioned - re the Christie scenario - that "the NSA knows, thereby the White House knows. They monitor my Email".

Even if Christie were to win the nomination...just about a week before a tight election....the venerable Dan Rather Reporting...breaks the real 'skinny' on Christie.

What a scene. No wonder this place is hangin by a thread.

I just went and read the entire version at the New Jersey page and kids could not go to school because the towns special lanes were closed? Whether Christie is guilty or innocent. No one is mentioning the fact that text messages and e-mail was hacked. Who hacked/spied on these emails texts in a private mobile phone? Who is behind the DOJ or NSA doing this? The emails and texts were not court ordered evidence.

Yet Obama is unscathed where the media is concerned. I remember a news article when Obama was first running that there was a special team set up to dig dirt on political candidates. Is using the NSA and DOJ a common theme now for democrats to take down political opponents? If someone were to hack Obama or Hillary's emails and personal texts and reported a supposed scandal, what would the media do?

Look at this article, the media is having a field day playing gotcha.

LINK

So those that are not worried about this because their candidate is fine for now; better remember how General Petraeus was brought down. I hope I am wrong but it seems like the dems will utilize Obama's machine. And if that machine includes hacking texts and emails until dirt is found or twisted we should all be very concerned.

Christie was never going to win even without bridgegate. Conservatives will not vote for him and we all know what happens to Republican nominees whom Conservatives refuse to vote for.

if you are anti HRC, your best bet is to support a dem you can stomach in the primary. i can see quite a few dems taking her out.

I dont see a candidate on the right that will make it through the primaries and challenge the dem side.

But who knows, we have a year before the primary season kicks off.
