We all need to GTG and go on an Alaskan hunt or file a gold mine claim.

Perhaps we can all set up residency in Alaska for the yearly stipend. We can then use that for a yearly trip...

I would love to go to Alaska with some people who share my passion for the outdoors and the simply life.

There are some decent job opportunities in Alaska that I recently found. Wife and I have been discussing a potential move for a week now...

Would be a hunting, camping and fishing paradise for me

Take a trip to see it first. Some are still shocked by the open spaces.

Be careful you you fly with.

Planes do have the right of way on the road though

I bet you get tired of hearing people talk about moving there...

The job in looking at would only be for 3 years, but is working for the state and they'd pay half of my student loans in addition to the salary and benefits

I will be visiting if we continue to be serious about this

I went fishing there when I was 12 and lived with my Dad in fairbanks for 3 months one Summer. Alaska is Awesome. (In the Summer except for the damn Mosquitoes.

Most who claim they will never do.

It's one of those things that you feel you gotta do, almost like a calling. If it's with reservation, you'll get over the allure pretty quickly. Usually one winter.

What kind of state job pays your student loans? I thought they stopped doing that years ago.

The answer to this is to go on an Alaskan survival hunt. I know someone who went, but they rolled an elk on the first day so they spent the rest of the time fishing

Right now doing some PR/sales. I've done a dozen or more jobs since I've been here. Longest run was division mgr for a small ship cruise line but have done some guiding and charters

They offer that as incentive to get vets to take jobs that deal with a lot of public health, slaughter house inspection, etc

Why wouldn't I just fly up there and complete DIY for that amount of service?
