"Confucius" has that name because in centuries past, Asian names were Latinized. If the West had discovered Confucius's writing in more recent times, we would have used modern naming conventions. And he would be known as... Kung Fu.

Wikipedia says differently. His real name is Kong Qiu, and "Confucius" is derived from "Kong Fuzi", meaning "Master Kong".
