The irony is that yes, they have enough money to get who they want, yet they are the reason they can't get who they want

I think Charlie Strong could one day maybe be a good coordinator

If he plays his cards right and doesnt give us no sass

My point exactly, didn't Mora say no thanks as well?

As did Art Briles and John Gruden.

The fact is that they have to pay Vatican money to convince anyone to come take over that clown show.

My question is, do they get their money back, since they paid off Saban's debts and all

Anyone who is extolling the virtues of Charlie Strong as a home run hire might be correct in the fullness of time, but it doesn't change the fact that about half a dozen folks were on on Texas' Amazon wishlist before him.

My understanding was that Patterson told Mora and Briles that Strong was his guy, allowing them to get out scot free. But who knows, I could be wrong

This shite ain't over. Saban to Texas.....now hear me out.
Charlie "Definately Not HC Material" Strong is a diversion scheme. He has been "hired" under "legal" "contract". This guise allows for the Bama Nation to let their guard down. As Phyllis lies fast sleep, with visions of houndstooth dancing in her head, Saban will travel the Trail of Tears (soon to be renamed Trail of Steers). He will be assisted along this Underground Railroad by the alumni of lesser SEC programs. When he appears for his presser the following AM, it will be announced that he is the HC and Strong is his DC. They will need no OC because no team will ever score a fricking point on them again once they surmise a plan to unravel the HUNH offense. Within two years, the amateur clause will be redacted from the NCAA's rule book. UT is invited to join the NFL that very day. When Saban extends his elbows to lift his third consecutive Super Bowl trophy over his head, he ascends into the heavens to become what will be called the "Quaternary" consisting of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and Saban.

This is where Texas twists the script. They breed Strong and Terri to produce a super-race (known simply as 'Straben' of football coach. This newfound lineage will produce an EA Sports NCAA style monopoly on football routinely dismantling teams 100-0.

Book it.

No you aren't wrong. Both Mora & Briles claimed they weren't interested in the job the same day the news about Strong leaked. Neither went thru a formal interview. Briles was somewhat offended that he'd have to interview - UT dropped him at that point. The only other coach that went thru a forman interview to my knowledge was Franklin.

All this stuff about Gruden is simply smoke from Red because he's angry that he was shutout of the process. As for Saban, while there was a contract on Sexton's desk, it was not drawn up by UT officially. Powers didn't want Saban and he & Patterson torpedoed the deal - that's when Red got riled up & began all this Gruden stuff. The truth is that Red had worked a real estate deal for Saban that probably would have worked (along with other BMD deals). The amount of the total package including salary would have been obscene, although salary would be the only visible part. I'm glad it was blocked. Nobody, in my opinion is worth that kind of money to coach college football.

The comment about "he could be a good position coach, MAYBE a coordinator" is probably the most damning quote from McCombs.

Charlie Strong has already been both a successful head coach AND defensive coordinator. I'm sure if Strong were white, McCombs wouldn't be bitching.

Honestly I don't know, but he didn't want to be scrutinized that closely. There's a lot of speculation about him - apparently is tatted up on both arms & neck - see if you can find a photo of him in short sleeves and notice his neck is covered a lot. I don't know if there's anything to that part or not.

Probably just a perceptual thing - Brile's perception of himself vs. UT's perception of him. Just a guess.

No doubt Red is a joke and deserves the criticism. Without knowing, I'm going to chalk it up to some kind of senile depression mixed in with an inflated sense of importance. UT will continue to take his money, but they hope he leaves his opinions at home. I think we're really beginning to see that Dodds' absense is leaving some folks with some abandonment issues. No way would Dodds have bucked the BMD's.
