I have a feeling it's in the bag. R's will cut a deal. My question is how high will it go? $10-$12? I'm sure it will hit double digits.

Any ideas?

MW should be a states issue... if you dont like the min wage in your state, move to another one

We should just make it $100/hour. That should create demand.

Hell, why stop there. Congress should pass a law requiring that the Federal Reserve make everyone a millionaire.

If GOP had any spine, they would make a counter bill raising minimum wage to $100 an hour and dare the democrats to shoot it down, and if they do ask why do they hate poor people

The trick is hiding inflation from the public and the truth is that it is being done already.

Should be raised to what President Obama himself makes after all he's the one that's against income inequality.

Actually, wages should be a market issue. Any time the gov't sets prices it has a negative impact on the economy.

I agree

Ideally red states would have no minimum wage and blue states could do what they want, $20 an hour if they so choose and see the reprocussions

Exactly, As a restaurateur said, the real minimum wage is what it takes to get the dishwasher to come back a second day.

Current Fed minimum wage has been in place since July of 2009.

And it had been $5.15 for 10+ years.

I don't see it going up to $10 an hour, but I can see $8.50.

but you'll never get the left to acknowledge their belief in central economic planning. despite the mounds of evidence that it hurts the economy.. poor folks and small business owners in particular. the former: their supposed protectorate, the latter: enemies to their socialist and corporate cronyism.

Your first statement is true.

Your second statement makes absolute good sense.

$8.50 is exactly the number the Republicans should pass in the House - defuses the issue for the 2014 elections and yet is still workable for small businesses.
