I know there are companies out there that will convert them, but why do none of the auto manufacturers offer a 4x4 van? It seems like they would be an awesome hunting/camping rig.

I looked for a while for one but never had any luck. Settled for a 3/4 ton truck instead.

Had a buddy in college that drove an Econoline 4 x 4. Always thought it would be a great set-up with the addition of some commercial racks and storage. Might not cost you $50,000 either.

Just get some duct tape and add "FX4" or "Z71" on the rear quarter panels.

There is a 2010-2011 Ford Econoline 4x4 that I see around town.

So they do make factory 4x4 vans. I would think you would have to special order them.

A local landowner used to chase me across his fields in one of those. That thing could move.

I don't think so. I think all of these come from aftermarket conversions like Quigley Motor Company. I know some delivery companies use them out west where it snows a lot, and they have to go through the aftermarket, which adds a lot of cost.

Many of the SUV's on the market can be had in 4WD. I know Ford has the Expedition in 4X4. With the seats down, there is not much difference in them than a van.
