Anybody bank with Neighbors FCU or other similar credit unions? If so, what's the benefits and/or drawbacks to the credit unions over a bigger bank like Chase?

TIA

Their rewards checking is good. It gives 3.51 % on the first 10,000, but you have to make 10 transactions per month. They usually have best interest on car loans also.

I was looking at the rewards checking -- are the rates higher for the checking accounts than the savings accts or am I looking at it wrong?

What the difference with dividend % and APY?

That's correct, on the first $10,000. It pays essentially nothing after that.

I bank with them. I haven't borrowed money from them, so I can't speak on that, but their online banking is nice, especially for a credit union. The rewards checking has a good interest rate, no fees, and will reimburse up to $20 per month in ATM fees if you meet all the requirements (which isn't difficult to do), so you've basically got a nationwide ATM network.

Just dropped to 2.5% this month. But still better than anything else out there. I have had nothing but good experiences with Neighbors.

I have a car loan with them. I had really slow customer service when i had to go to the branches a couple times but I don't go often so not that big of deal. I would look into UCB. They offer like 2.5 percent on the first 25k

Credit Unions are almost always a better deal than banks

Have had neighbors for a few years

Nothing but good to say about them

They finally added photo deposits to their app so I never have to visit a branch now

I bank with campus federal and have for years, rewards checking is like getting free money basically, the wife and I just have to use our debit cards 15 times a month I think.

They reimburse you on all atm transactions as well.

Neighbors and Federal now have the same rewards checking dividend rates.

Neighbors you only need 10 debit card purchases vs 15 w/ Campus.

Capitol Credit Union offers a slightly higher div rate but only up to balances of $5K.
