Why are Aggies laughing at the Texas hire?

I live in college station, all the talk is how Texas overpayed and Strong is mediocre....
Do they not realize @ 5 million per year Strong's resume is better than Sumlins?

I live in B/CS too and ehat I'm hearing the laughter about is that UTex didn't get Harbaugh or Saban or whatever other high powered coach they thought was just gonna drop everything and run yo Austin because We Are Texas.

they're laughing because UT has only served to perpetuate the notion that they are all pretentious douchebag assholes.
if you cut through all the crap that Red McCombs just said on air, at the end of it, he mirrored the exact sentiment of nearly all the Longhorn fans approximately 2 weeks before Mack eventually "retired"

We will only accept Saban, or an NFL coach with a Superbowl ring
.....and then, all of their top targets (allegedly) turn down UT and they end up with a new coach that a mere month ago did not have the pedigree to even be on the radar. And now, low and behold, he's the best coach ever, and the absolute best fit for the university, and UT got the man they wanted all along

Because they hired a black man in a white man's world. They will turn on him at the drop of a hat.
I think Strong is a fine coach but I believe he will be overwhelmed by the Texas machine. I'm not sure there was anyone other than Saban that could have taken this job a be a great hire.
