Coaches and motivates better with less talent. Doesn't seem to be able to create chemistry with this years more talented team.

we really have ZERO chemistry. and JJ's substitution patters are baffling at best.

Martin seems to have all the tools to be a great player but Coach can't put him in the right place to make plays…we have looked really bad in a handful of games (ULM, Texas Tech, Rhode Island, Tenn). Even in the games we look good, it's been in spurts. We've played one complete game all year.

This team needs to improve and improve fast or we won't even make the NIT again. 13 out of 14 SEC teams would have beaten us tonight.

If he's another Dale Brown I'd actually be happy. Are you saying this would be a bad thing?

We could only hope he's another Dale Brown. Golden era of LSU basketball. Sadly, he is not.

The comparison with Dale Brown is that with greater talent and expectations came frustration and disappointment.
Dale's most talented teams usually underachieved.
So far it looks the same with Jones' teams

Do you think this team will be one of Coach Jones most talented?

More talented than last year but with far less chemistry and much less intensity which is my point

Lacks the passion on the sidelines and it is showing in the teams play. Much like TJ IMO.

You must have been in a coma during the Shaq, Stanley Roberts , Chris Jackson era.

Were you happy with a 4th or 5th place finish in '81?

I think there is a lot of truth in that statement.

Takes the program to another level and tosses in a few Final 4 appearances. God I hope so!

In other words. Dale did more with less and less with more. So far I see a similar trait with Jones

Dale brown is looked upon as being a bad coach. He was actually a very good coach, especially early in his career (early 80s). He then relied too much on recruiting and motivation and got a little complacent. I think people remember the very early 90s with the talent and think bad coach. Most seem to forget what a great job he did in the early-mid 80s

With the way CJJ has recruited in his short time here, I think it's much easier to give him a few years before jumping ship. Lets be pretty frank, the cupboard was bare when he got here. This team is fun to watch, but just not overall very talented. However, one of the biggest surprises has been Mickey, a CJJ recruit. Let the man get a full team of his recruits in before we rush to judgement

Early 80s: yes. Mid 80s: not so much.

Those great runs we made in '86 and '87 NCAA tourneys wrre so great, in part, because those teams were nothing special during the regular seasons. In '86, we were the 11th seed.

You're comparing a dude that coached from 1972 to 1997 to a dude who has coached one full season at LSU.
