Steeping Fresh Fruit in Alcohol Question?

anyone ever done this? how long will fruit last before turning?

I think it'll last a long time because the alcohol kills off bacteria and germs.
I'm no doctor though.

Yeah, it should basically last indefinitely. It may start to taste more funky after a couple of years, but it should't really go "bad" per se.

thought so. just wanted some reassurance. got some high quality "alcohol" from a cousin for christmas and plan on trying a few different flavors.
its just as simple as letting it soak in there, right? or do i need to cook, lets say peaches, first to release some of the flavors and sugars?

I was just looking into this yesterday.
I found this page most helpful. It has a time-chart for you. Some stuff can only go a couple hours.. some a couple days.. some a couple weeks.

I've actually infused bacon in vodka for Bloody Mary's. Turned out pretty awesome. Fried the bacon, put in airtight container with vodka and let it sit a week occasionally stirring it. Then strained vodka. Perfect Bacon Bloody Mary.
