Does Stephen Rivers have an opportunity to start next season?

Not at practice so I don't see him practice. So is there something missing from his game. Nothing against Jennings at all but is there an open competition on the spring with Jennings, Rivers and Rettig?

Bolden there as well.

AJ, BH and HR all are mobile. The offense will be built on their capabilities.

Rivers is almost like a coach. He seems very involved in the game.

There are a few smoke blowers around here who build rivers up, but AJ or Harris will be starting next year

After watching Jennings in the bowl game, any QB on the roster has a shot at starting. I'm putting my money on Rettig

I'm continually amazed at how college fans completely forget the previous recruit if he doesn't start immediately and quickly jump to the next recruit. I mean hell. I don't know who is going to start, but Rettig was listed as the number 3 pro-style QB in the country by rivals.

This goes for all positions. Guy could be a 5 star but if he aint getting significant playing time on arrival, people forget em if we get another big recruit at the same position.

No way a true freshman starts at QB. After the bowl game all I want is a true open competition. Rettig should now be fully healed from his ACL injury in high school. Rivers looked great last year in the Spring, but we've seen that before with other guys. Harris has a cannon, but needs a lot of work on accuracy and consistency. Jennings needs some work on his balls sailing. So at this point no one should be a foregone conclusion.

I don't think he would start at ULL.

CLM has already demonstrated he is loath to play any QB but his starter (deserving or not). Rivers does not seem to be among the CLM-favored ones. If Rivers has no shot, pull his scholly and make room for somebody else. Why carry players with no future chance of playing?

If by start you mean the starting guy holding the clipboard and signaling plays in.

Um. Because things happen? What if Jennings had been hurt in the opening series of the Iowa game?

Rivers just may be a permanent back up which actually describes as surprisingly large number of scholly players in college football.

Idk why people forget that we have Rettig. Seems to me like this kid could be Mett with a little less of an arm and more legs. Not necessarily a "dual-threat" guy. But I mean come on, there needs to be a real competition.

Well have you heard there are also some other LSU players at the QB position out there in bench-land?

I am going to say this and I am sure some of you clowns will make me regret saying it...
I was on the outer edges of a group talking to Cam Cameron at a private function. One of the guys asked him specifically about Rivers. From Cam's mouth to my ears: Don't write him off just yet. He has a lot of tools and I (Cam) can see him on the field next year (2014). Believe it or don't. Makes no difference to me.
