murder numbers for 2013 are in

There is a big demographic shift going on from Shreveport to Bossier. I moved 15 years ago. Shreveport has a high crime rate, a Democrat controlled govt and a decreasing population per square mile as they keep annexing outlying suburbs to try and make up for a decreasing tax base. But that equals more cost for city services.

Bossier is booming. Heavily Republican, tea party types. The crime rate is almost non existent. For those not familiar the only geographic divide is the Red River. About 100 yards. I could hit a 9 iron over it.

The freedom to disassociate.

Shreveport Police made arrests in most of their open homicide cases but not all. Bossier City authorities say their 2013 solvability rate is at 100%, much higher than the 62.5% national average.

All you need to do is take a glance at a Caddo School Board meeting, Shreveport City Council meeting, and any Shreveport City planning meeting to see where this shithole is headed.

I've been there. Seen that. I've seen more intelligence at the DMV.

Now, Zach.... to be fair, there are certain places in Bossier that you would prefer not to visit. The difference is they are relatively confined, whereas Shreveport has so many cancerous neighborhoods that the prognosis is terminal.

Ah, this explains it:
quote:

Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Bill Davis says Annie Bond was the single homicide victim for the department's investigators last year.

Bossier Parish had only 1 murder. That is outside of Bossier City limits. Bossier City had 6. But people moving into Bossier do NOT live in Bossier City. They live in Bossier Parish. Specifically Haughton, Benton and South Bossier. All within 10 miles of the city which is mostly commercial and the home of Obama supporters.

So did Caddo Parish, outside of the city limits. Again, from your link:

Outside the city, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office investigated only one homicide investigation last year

So if you're going by murders outside of the cities, it's 1 to 1.

Russian, the difference is pop. Everyone in Bossier lives OUTSIDE Bossier City. Everyone in Caddo lives INSIDE Shreveport.

According to the census data, Caddo has approximately 58,000 people living outside the city limits and Bossier has 61,000 living outside the city limits. Pretty close in actual population numbers.

Population of La Cities
Population of La Parishes

BTW, the cold front is just now coming through BR. The rain has started. Temp at my house has dropped 7 degrees in the last 20 minutes.

Correct. But those living INSIDE the city limits are about FIVE times higher in Shreveport compared to Bossier City. The murder rate is inside Shreveport which is a HUGE geographic area due to tax annexations.

RE: Temp... It's leveled off at 33, but the sun is out. When it goes down it will freeze hard. As long as I don't have to drive Lucy to work tonight I'll be happy. She will not drive from the forest to the hospital on ice.
