Yes, trout. I am looking for someplace to retire in the state. But, I have to be close to the best fly fishing. So, I am looking for the best region, or best locations.

May be worth an email to him. His wife runs the Oyster site so she may be some help. He is on the TN / GA line.

Does it have to be in TN? If you want good flyfishing look at AR. Some of the best in the world.

I want to say the The Little River is one of the better places to fly fish up there.

Google Little River Outfitters. They have the biggest fly fishing shop in east TN.

South Holston near Bristol. Really beautiful and full of browns. Tailwater.

I forget what HWY it is, but south of Gatlinburg towards Townsend/Maryville in Sevier Co.

Also North of Gatlinburg towards the park at a little place I grew up spending many a weekend: Greenbrier.

Great decision btw

Thanks!! I fish in Arkansas a lot. But I would like more snow, with similar culture, politics and hunting/fly fishing. So Tennessee is it.

I'll have the name of a very good guide out of Johnson City for you soon. Fished with him a few times and he knows his stuff...but it's been a few years and I've misplaced his name for now.

Yeah, but you would have to live in Arky. East TN and west NC is beautiful.

We have had a cabin on the trophy trout section of the Hiwassee River ever since I was born. Absolutely gorgeous up there.

Right next to the Ocoee River, where they did the Olympic kayaking events. The Hiwassee is also a white water river, but easily manageable without a guide.

Very small community, but you aren't far a town called Cleveland, and you are about 45 minutes from Chattanooga. It's about an hour or so from Knoxville and a little over an hour to North Carolina. Plenty of options around it.

My parents go up there pretty much every weekend. I think they will eventually retire up there. My dad fly fishes pretty much year around (except when it gets this cold). He'll have great weekends, and less than great weekends. My brother is also a big fly fisherman. He has traveled to the surrounding rivers more than my dad and loves it.
