Any thoughts? just curious who the Rant thinks is the Tigers' biggest in-state recruiting miss of all time? Is there any one guy, or maybe a combination of two guys, out there who could have changed an era had we gotten them on campus? I'd count guys who were offered scholarships and turned them down as well as guys who we just overlooked.

Obvious Candidates:

Warrick Dunn
Marshall Faulk
Peyton Manning
Travis Minor
Ed Reed
Kordell Stewart
Reggie Wayne

Edit: For those of you who don't feel like reading every page, below is a list of the names people have thrown out so far. By the way, the list above was not meant to be exhaustive; it was more to get the discussion started.

John David Crow
Joe McKnight
Terry Bradshaw
Broc Berlin
Landin Collins
Anthony Todd
Joe Ferguson
Norris Weese
Terry Davis
Eric Jefferson
Billy Cannon Jr.
Jonny Hector
John David Booty
John Fourcade

Chris Williams
Jimmy Williams

I don't think it's fair to count the Mannings since they weren't coming here anyways.

My vote is Ed Reed

LSU didnt "miss" on Manning considering there was never even consideration of him going to LSU.

You left out eli. Peyton would be my answer. Lsu would have never pulled either no matter what though imo.

Didn't Faulk go to SDSU? What made him go all the way our West to a no-name college?

You're more upset about someone who has never taken a college snap and could be a complete bust versus some of the players in the OP? Overreact much?

Didn't mean "miss" to imply that LSU dropped the ball on any of these guys. I know LSU was a hard sell in the 90's even for some in-state kids. I guess I'm more focused on what would have happened if by some chance we'd gotten the kid.

John David Crow. Won the Heisman at A&M back in the 50s.

Marshall Faulk

Curley wanted him to play CB because he wasn't big enough to play RB in the SEC. Oops.

Joe McKnight was the 2007 version of Leonard Fournette. Losing him would kill recruiting for years to come. I think LSU has persevered. At least his recruitment had a part in USC getting the hammer dropped on them.

They were the only ones who let him play RB. Everybody else wanted him to be a DB.

Left him off on purpose. We won SEC and National Championships during his era with less touted Quarterbacks. Not sure what he would have added.

That's a slap in the face to Leonard Fournette. Buga makes McKnight look like a little bitch.

Throw in Anthony Thomas. Went to Michigan and was arguably the best RB (At least top 3) in the country coming out.

LSU never recruited him. I knew some of his HS coaches.

Not comparing the players...comparing the recruitment. I agree that McKnight did little considering(recruiting rankings aren't everything

When McKnight picked USC, it was like someone announced that everyone in attendance at the Bayou Bash would be executed along with their dogs. Grown men throwing shite and cursing at 10 a.m. Declaring the end of LSU football...

At the time, the most moaning and groaning I think was over McKnight. Landon Collins up there too. People were pretty pissed at Janzen Jackson too.

Those earlier recruits from the 90s are easily explained bc LSU was bad and recruiting didn't have the following it does now. No social media.

You serious bro? The Joe McKnight metldown is so funny because he was the best player we didn't need. We were stacked at RB at the time. Not to mention he wasn't really anything special as a CFB player AND got USC in trouble.
