ESPN Bowl Challenge Cup

According to my review of bowl scores, the SEC only needs to win 1 of its 2 remaining bowls to win this trophy. Right now, the SEC has a 6-2 record. The PAC 12 is 6-3 & has no teams left to play. The AAC is 2-2 w/ 1 more game left. The Sun Belt can't win it despite possibility of finishing 2-0 since the rules require playing in at least 3 bowls for a conference to be eligible.
If the SEC does win this, will it help silence Stoops & other naysayers about the SEC's supposed lack of quality teams in the middle of the pack?

I care since I've had an on-going banter w/ some fans of the Slow 10. They say the SEC is overrated. One thinks the SEC chose to play unranked Slow 10 teams b/c they're scared to play ranked teams in bowls. He seems to be stuck in the era before the conference tie-ins starting in 1990s.
