I have the dumbest question IN THE WORLD

If my wife & I want to watch a movie that isn't on Netflix. We don't want to buy it, so presumably we can pay to stream it online somewhere (just this one individual movie).
Is there a website that does that (i.e. you pay to stream a single movie)?
As an aside, is there a website like Netflix that has all the new releases? If not, then what are the options for watching new releases at home without buying the $30 blu-ray?
We're not in the US, but our PS3 is coded to only play US DVD/Blu-Ray, so RedBox and shite like that isn't an option.

iTunes and maybe amazon
Posted on 1/3/14 at 12:06 pm to PenguinNinja
Amazon or iTunes are the most popular ways AFAIK.

Amazon Prime Instant Video.

You don't have any apps available through your PS3 to rent movies (CinemaNow, etc.)?

Vudu - rent or purchase the movies in SD/HD/1080p (all with different prices) and a large selection.
*edit* didn't see the part about you being outside the US...not sure how that's going to work for you. without using some sort of VPN or something to spoof your location and give you a U.S. IP address you may be SOL if you don't want to torrent stuff.

There is a plethora of questions asked every hour on this website more dumb than this one.

Man, I had my hopes up for this one. This question didn't even make the top 10 dumbest questions I've heard today at work...

I know.
I just figured that since Blockbuster and the like went away, that there was something obvious taking its place.
I just didn't know wtf it was.

What exactly is AmazonPrime? What does it do? How much does it cost?
Posted on 1/3/14 at 12:35 pm to PenguinNinja
Oh, I guess you're not an Amazon Prime member. Prime is this glorious service offered by Amazon where you pay $80 a year and that affords you free two-day or $4 next-day delivery on all Prime eligible items from Amazon.
It also gets you their Instant Video service. The Prime part of their service gets you Prime videos and movies at no cost. There are also lots and lots of movies and TV shows you can purchase. You can purchase movies and TV in SD, HD, and you can even just by single episodes of TV shows if you want.
For instance, I'm catching up on American Horror Story Season 1 for free on Amazon Prime Instant Video. A movie like Goodfellas is free with a Prime membership. Just a few examples.
I do not work for Amazon, I just want to marry it.
