I'd be pissed, you get 20 years on accident and get no credit for time served?

quote:

- A man wrongly incarcerated for 19 years in a 1986 rape who was later exonerated by a DNA test is headed back to prison on gun and drug charges.

Thomas Doswell, 54, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced Thursday to 11½ to 23 months in the county prison. Doswell had previously pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana, crack cocaine and a gun, which police found in August when they stopped him as a material witness to a murder.

they were stopping him to ask him questions, not stopping him for a crime.

quote:

Allegheny County Judge Anthony Mariani told Dos well he didn't deserve another chance.

"You sat in a cage for 18 or 19 years for something you didn't do," the judge told Doswell, noting if that prison time "didn't persuade you to not commit these offenses, I don't know what does."

how about frick you judge, go sit in jail for 20 for a crime you didn't commit and then "adapt" to life outside.

Guy

I didn't realize prisoners lived their life with marijuana, crack cocaine and guns. The things you learn.

Just because they wrongfully incarcerated you, doesnt mean you get a free pass to commit a crime with less jail time and get time served.

weed is everywhere, crack is in the hood where ex-cons live and where he lived before incarceration....it's just the local lifestyle....the gun charge is just because he's a felon for something 30 years ago....but it's also something you need if you live in a bad neighborhood.

but whatever, victimless crime, "caught" only because they were investigating another crime...and you want to put the guy in jail for 2 more years?

Yea he probably shouldve gotten off with probation given the circumstances. Judge is being really harsh.

40% lawyers and that was 8 years ago....NBA and NFL players lose more in 5 years after getting out...you know how many people came out of the woodwork for him when he got out, national exposure, and was a "millionaire"? Imagine how good women looked after 20 years, imagine the childlike naivety you'd have "no silly, not a real net, the internet"

I'm just asking for time served on victimless crimes

It should have been in the form of an annuity.

Well it fricking should.

You do 20 years bc the state fricked up and sent you there, you get a free pass on some bullshite drug possession after.

Not saying its should be a continual thing, but the state owes you something.

Here we go. A crackhead with a gun needs jail time regardless of what happeneded in the past. Chances are when the clown ran out of crack he would use the gun to rob so he could buy more crack. What color was the gun?

and...?

The state totally fricked this guy, and they only give him $3.8 million likes thats some sort of consolation for everything he missed in that time?

As much fricked up bullshite that goes on in our wonderful legal system, the judge could have given him a pass. Its not like what he did was hurting anyone.

But he hasnt served any time. He was paid for the days he spent in jail so "the house" is even with him.

If anything he should have known how bad prison was and made sure he walked the straight and narrow and kept his nose clean.

So you think he just gets a free for all pass on society until he commits 20 years of prison worth of crimes?

Or maybe prison fricked him up?
