Wow.

So Bama should have been in a Top 4 playoff this year?

Yes. They were #3. Why is that hard to understand?

Perhaps they were OVERrated?

Just because they were Bama?

They were #3 in the polls. They were number #3 in the computers. You have no point, you are obsessed with Bama, you have not thought the playoff thing through enough to realize why requiring a conference championship for a playoff berth is unfair, impossible, and dumb, and you don't know what you're talking about.

Uh, no

Thery were tied with Stanford, and .030 points ahead of Mich St in the comp polls

The only reason they passed them in the final BCS was the human polls. Had Bama .0500 over Stanford and .1500 over MSU

And after tonight, proves they were overrated

Exactly. They were #3.

With the polls they were #3. Without the polls they were #3.

Youre not very smart, are you

They were Tied for 3rd place by the computers, but if they were ranked behind other conf champs, as they should be, then their ranking in the human polls falls to 6th or 7th (if you include UCF) and out of the playoffs. Which Bama proved tonight they didnt deserve

And hopefully the selection committee will remember this game and do the right thing

The committee should take previous seasons games into consideration? I don't agree with this.

Why do you feel this way?

This is mathematical evidence that damages your certainty that Alabama was overrated. Not that that's relevant. When the polls and computers agree on a team's ranking, there's really nothing unbalanced about that.

Nothing that happened after January 2 has any relevance whatsoever in regards to a team's ranking on December 7, and to think otherwise is illogical and supports my assertion that you have not thought this through and do not know what you are talking about.

Pure, useless bias that adds nothing of value or deserving of serious consideration to the playoff dialogue.

Not every team is in a conference. A conference championship refers to a fraction of your season. Get it through your head. Let this go. It isn't a good idea, and nobody of importance will ever give it any consideration. Move on.

Like I said, you have no clue
quote:

College football has traditionally been dominated by polls, which are driven by wins — and more important, losses. The selection committee will instead be charged with deeper deliberation: strength of schedule, head-to-head results, conference championships, injuries, and so on.

Polls wont have a place in determining the 4. And since Bamas lasting image was losing to another non-conf winner, the committee will have the freedom to push them aside in the future

Why would anyone wanting to win a NC bitch about a requirement to first prove you are the best in your own conference to get there? People bitching for non champion at large spots are a bunch of losers complaining because they aren't good enough.

You really think a team should be punished for past seasons' games? I just don't see how you can hold that view.

I mean, hell Auburn won zero SEC games last year. And also lost to a non-conference winner this year.

kige, the language used by the committee has indicated an emphasis on winning your conference, head to head results, and strength of schedule.

to me that means either win your conference or have an unbelievable out of conference schedule - because otherwise you won't get into the playoff over other teams with similar records but conference championships to their names.

yeah, this one was a huge shot across the bow. Bama has been the program that the eyeball test has been most commonly applied to. In the days preceding the game we still had columnists arguing that Bama was the best team in the country even after they lost to Auburn. To see that turned on its head by the coach who talked about how over-rated teh SEC can be at times was a best possible outcome for the Big 12 and people outside of the SEC in general.

This will probably be viewed as an opening for a tournament of champions to be the default in the coming years

So because Bama whooped your arse in the NC game after losing the conference, you are saying they shouldn't get a playoff spot in a situation like this next year because they lost their bowl game after also losing their conference this year?

Ridiculous.

Top 4 ranked teams should go period.
