There's got to be at least 8-10k empty seats. Would never have thought this for a game between Bama and OK

Seem like that for every bowl game. I guess the "great" Obama economy isn't helping, but I can't help but think these bowls are just on their last legs. Hopefully, the playoffs and the eventual increase in size of said playoffs will put some new excitement into these games.

Bowl attendance as a whole has been pathetic this year

The only bowl game with great attendance this year was the Rose Bowl. All others have been pathetic.

I think there's a lot of Bama fans (including me) that aren't too thrilled to be there.

New Orleans Bowl set an attendance record.
But this is a byproduct of the BCS. Fans don't want to travel to what they see as meaningless games.
Look at the reaction of people here when coaches go 9-3...

Yeah, but the female Gumps couldn't give blowjobs on Bourbon in another bowl city.

Hell, I turned down free tickets twice.

Bama bandwagoners know they can't win a nc so no reason to show up.

Sounds a lot like LSU fans.

Fans of teams at all levels are bored at anything less than a special season. Probably more a result of TV saturation.
The only cure is a real playoff...not some 4 or 8 team fixed playoff, but a 16 team with each conference given a spot.

Well he wasn't looking in the terrace.
Is asking 70k fans from 2 of the most storied programs in the nation to travel to one if the funniest cites in the nation over New Years too much to ask? I mean, Bama fans had at most 2.5 to 5 hours drive time??
I can see trying to fill a 100k stadium in Arizona or a 110k stadium in Dallas if these 2 teams were playing in either of those 2 cities, but this is a little different.

We sold our allotment and then sold out the extra tickets we requested, so don't look at us.

Post-holiday game in the middle of the week, both off of disappointing seasons (disappointing in this current screwy world of football). Great view on TV.
35K is, what, 1/4 of the legitimate fan base of those programs?
