How many OT-ers have gotten the flu this winter?

I've noticed that many more people that I know have gotten the flu in the last couple of weeks than I've ever seen get during this time of year in the past. I got it 2 weeks ago, and prior to then, I hadn't had the flu since the late 90s. I did not get the flu shot this year either, as I don't believe it actually makes a difference as to whether one gets the virus or not. Out of all of the people that I know who either currently have the flu, or have recently gotten over it, I would say at least 3/4 of them received the shot this year, so I believe that backs up my theory of how well the shot works. Has anyone else noticed this influx of the flu spreading around so rampant lately?

You do realize there are several strains of the flu and the shot can't protect you from every single strain out there?

Anyone got the Boogie-Woogie flu strain this winter?

Seeing more H1N1 this year though. We've already had a couple kids at work test positive for it.

I had it the week before Christmas, got Tamiflu the first day of symptoms and tested positive for it at my local doc. 3 days were brutal, but I was back to damn near 100% by the 4th day.

Never gotten the shot and haven't gotten the flu in probably 12 years.

Got hit with Flu Type A the Friday before Thanksgiving. Hit Tami flu early and the intense symptoms were mitigated......but damn if the fatigue and congestion didn't linger for 10 days.
went through my whole family unit.

That's great and all but are you around small children or the elderly at all(such as your loved ones)? Have any loved ones with cancer undergoing treatment for it?
If so, you should get the shot to help protect them so you don't pass anything onto them.

I love how you know the flu shot status of every one of your friends .. Did you do a one-night telephone survey ?

That's what people don't get .. The flu shot is just as much about stymying mass transmission as anything .. Just because you are immune to a specific strain doesn't mean you can't pass it on to someone ..

I had to be tested for flu last year. Probably the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had.
