I have started building my first duck blind for a local lake and am almost complete. Here is the design and the as-built pics this far.

What do y'all think?? Any improvements? Thoughts?

Well I didn't realize this place had as many ducks as it does... I have been bank hunting and we have killed over 50 birds so I think with the blind addition we will kill a good amount of birds next season...

The one thing I would definitely change is not having one side so high. I like a blind I can sit in and the front can be the back and vice versa.

It depends what lake you are hunting...
So what lake is it?

Drop some Thompson's Water seal on that bugger too.

It's all treated lumber so I should be good to go... But I plan on dry storing it during the summer... Or at least under a boat shed I have access too..

And I left the lake to be a mystery for a reason...

Some areas dont accept blinds on the lake! We must know where to see if it is legal

That will surely make it last longer.

Looks nice. Big enough to be stable.

You're going to put some ply wood too, right. Cuts the wind a lot. Makes ALL the difference.

May be stupid but how did you attach the 4 barrels underneath?

How steady is it with 4 barrels? Think I'd tried to get some more under it even if I'd had to make it bigger. Looks like if a couple people shooting that thing is gonna move a lot unless you plan to tie it down.

I figure he's going to tie off to something. The way he made the back high, I figured he may be just off the edge of the pond- which would not be my choice but I'm not sure about the scene he's hunting.

T

Here are a few things i think, since you asked:

1. I think that if the huntin as good as you say it is on this lake, you arent' the only one knows about it, and you will have hole punched in your barrels very speedily from somebody entrenched on said lake

2. Looks as though you have salvinia on said lake and your hunting is fricked so you better use that blind while yuo can

It looks much like a lake you have to have a permit to put a blind on
