This is not an attack on Jennings. He did a great job against ARkansas and struggled today. The fact is that the QB competition will be hotly contested next year. It seems to me that many fans have written Rettig off. Obviously I do not know what he will do, but the guy has a very nice arm and should be given an opportunity. Jennings, Rettig, Rivers, and Harris should all get an equalshot. Personally, I hope Harris redshirts unless he is just that good.

LSU fans have always questioned whether Leslie plays the best guy or his favorites.
For better or worse AJ caught lightning in a bottle against Arkansas. I guess we were just hoping to see some glimpses than we did.

Yeah, well, sorry the true freshman making his first start in a rainy bowl game didn't play like Peyton Manning today.

The running ability, the pinpoint pass on the TD in the Ark game and confidence we saw in the last minute of the Arkansas game, was nowhere to be seen today. The QB position should be wide open next year, and hopefully the best QB which gives us the chance to move the offense and get us a victory wins out...

Like the other guys said: true freshman, bowl game, first start, raining. Not exactly a recipe for a Heisman like performance.
If just to clear his head, I think Les should have sat him for a series once it became obvious the Iowa D had him intimidated.

Why such an a-hole?
I thought he did okay for his first start. One big mistake, but did not lose it for us. Oh, and BTW, I don't think Peyton could take off for a 40 yard run if he had a jetpack. Leslie said he just got a little too nervous in the game. AJ will be fine.

This offseason ANY scholarship qb on campus will get a shot. There's a lot of work to be done.

It was two completely different situations.

In the AR game AJ was thrust in - he didn't have any time to get nervous and there was really no pressure. If he didn't do well, then everyone would have just chalked it up to him being a freshman.

He had a lot of time to develop some nerves for the bowl game and the pressure was definitely on. That said, I think the kid did okay for his first start in a big situation. I hope...that if he gets the chance to prove himself next year that he will grow to be more comfortable running the team.

In any event, the QB race SHOULD be wide open next year.

Ha! How was that being an a-hole? You're far too sensitive.

About the only decent observation you have made.

Almost exactly what Risher said on the post-game show. But, alas, knee-jerk reactions abound on the Rant, even in the face of extremely small sample sizes.

I watched Brandon Harris earlier on ESPN 2 on some qb challenge.
He came in last.
However he certainly does have a big arm quick release.
Lots of pep on his throws, needs to be accurate though.

As far as Rettig goes, I think it's a fascination some here have with black qbs.
Only way I can explain it.
AJ was a 6 heismans favorite, after today looks many have changed their tune and dumping him for Harris.. Skipped right over Rettig.
Neither of which I might add have ever taken a division 1 snap.

I say let fair competition play out this spring and summer and fall.
Let best guy have job.
After les miles handled JJ and JLEE, I don't know.
Better yet if cam is the genius QB guru we all seem to agree he is, let him decide.

I agree you could see the pressure get to him. He started aiming his throws causing them to be high, and was waiting for people to become open. Other than the one that was picked I thought he did a good job of not forcing the ball. Our D was lights out....so run run run punt.
