Top Austin Shows of 2013
Glad these guys are getting good recognition. They definitely deserve it. Can't wait to see what the future holds for these guys.
I'm ready for 2/1 to get here

Earphunk at the Parish
The New Orleans based funk group Earphunk comes to Austin a few times each year, but their most memorable performance was this December during their Daft Phunk set at the Parish. With a live, funky spin on the French electro-duo’s dance hits, the group performed classics like One More Time, Around the World, and Harder Better Faster Stronger to an amped, sold out crowd. If you missed the tribute, no worries. The Daft Phunk tour ends in Georgia, with a show in Athens at the Georgia Theatre January 17 and Atlanta at the Terminal West a King Plow January 18.

You have to be their manager. You are in literally every Earphunk thread I've read on here.

He isn't their manager, but he is in music business. It is funny hearing him act like a fan on here when in reality he is marketing the show It is obvious, too. He is a good guy though

Yeah it's pretty blatant.
But as for the next big thing out of Nola, it will be the Revivalists. Earphunk may be better musicians (may) but the Revivalist have the easy to digest sound and lyrics that will take them far.

I really like them. I've only listened to their Tip's show on spotify but it's great.

Can't believe they haven't signed on with Simple Play yet. They could gig alongside Coyotes...

I already told you doodz that I work in digital marketing.
I started seeing EP while attending LSU... This was back in the Chelsea's days when they were still covering "Cissy Strut". I was also in a frat with a couple of the band members. It's been pretty cool watching them come up.
I'll rephrase my original statement.. EP is the best JAM BAND coming out of Nola. Revivalists will be big but they aren't really a jam band imo..

I agree, but who are some other ones?
Naughty Professor is pretty good

Naught P is really good. I just feel like they haven't found their sound quite yet.
There's also Gravity A, Gravy, Flowtribe (more of a wedding band imo), and Khris Royal & Dark Matter. Can't think of any others that i'd classify as a jam band.

Gravy has been around a long time. I don't think they will ever get any bigger.
Gravity A is good stuff.
Khris Royal is great with other bands but his solo project is meh

I watched a really tight set from the Soul Projects when they opened for Wolfman's 70th birthday bash at Maple Leaf.
It was my first time seeing them and was suprised at how polished some of their stuff sounded.

Not familiar with them. Got any links?

I couldn't go to this. How many/what songs did Anders sit in for?
Posted on 12/30/13 at 4:54 pm to HeadyBrosevelt
Speaking of, Anders Osborne is no doubt the jam king of NOLA right now. His spot in Phil and Friends kangfirms it.

Can't believe I forgot about Anders. He's a beast.

I'm at work but I'll check out some links when I get home. It was my first time hearing about them let alone seeing them live but they were a very pleasant surprise.

He sat in for 3-4 songs and absolutely tore it up for each one. It was pretty funny in that he was tucked in the back corner of the small stage. You couldn't really see him but could just hear his incredible playing.
My one disappointment for the show was Stanton Moore not getting any solo time. He sat in for two songs but never tore it up like I was hoping.
It was still cool seeing him on drums with Wolfman and Anders on guitar and Ivan Neveille on keys.

FYI- the talent buyer from the varsity manages EP.
