Im sure we all could admit the show just isnt as good as it has been in the past for whatever reasons (cast, writers, or whatnot). Why not bring back an all-star cast for a season or even just on episode? I know it would be hard to get the legends to agree but some of the more popular cast members that have fell off the scene after leaving snl, im sure they would jump at that chance. What do you guys think about that?

Im talking ones like darrell hammond, tim meadows, cheri oteri, norm mcdonald, molly shannon.

They basically did that for Justn Timberlake's 5th time hosting. I lost count of the cameos from alumni and popular hosts like Goodman and Steve Martin

Now if I could have an All Time 12 person Cast (with at least 3 women and 2 non-whites)....

CAST
Jim Belushi
Dan Akroyd
Gilda Radner
Garrett Morris
Bill Murray
Eddie Muphy
Phil Hartman
Chris Farley
Will Ferrell
Cheri Oteri
Keenan Thompson
Kristin Wiig

HOST
Steve Martin

Missed my cut
Darrel Hammond
Jane Curtin
Jimmy Fallon
Mike Meyers
Norm MacDonald
Chevy Chase
Jon Lovitz
Tim Meadows
Maya Rudolph

If you have limited knowledge of the show, sure thing.

You have Adam Sandler on that list whose only memorable characters were Canteen Boy and Opera Boy, and those would both be bottom tier SNL characters. Please give me an even halfway decent excuse that he should be on an all star team when Phil Hartman and Norm MacDonald blew basically everything he did out of the water during his time at SNL.

I can't agree with that opening statement, this new cast has been pretty good.

Keenan Thompson is horrible to watch. I've never laughed at any of his characters. How he could make a top cast even as a colored guy is beyond my imagination. Tim Meadows or Tracy Morgan easily over him if we gotta get PC about it.

Keenan Thompson?!?!? fricking kidding me.

With Morris and Murphy on the roster, they would play the same roles and at a higher caliber than Meadows or Morgan in my mind, aka, it would be redundant. Honestly, I wish I could break the rules and add Bobby Lee from MadTV. also, it's a personal choice, I think Thompson is a riot and been doing variety all his life.

As far as redundancy, I was close to making it Belushi OR Farley as they did pretty much the same thing, but in the end, they were too good and I would pay good money to see them on stage together.

I have watched a few shows lately and yes I can agree that they are much improved. I was referring to the last few years in general as apposed to the mid 2000s and before.

His Steve Harvey is great.

Also Chris Rock was on SNL for a short while.

I would take him high above Garret Morris.

I'd include Molly Shannon, Dana Carvey and Andy Samberg on the 2nd string....

I'd like to think you simply forgot Dana, all time great.

The cast of the last 3-4 years has been better than any IMO. I stopped watching the show in the 2000s. Tina Fey was just not that great of a writer for the show and the cast was mediocre. Seth has done a great job since he took over as head writer.

I agree that Keenan is not very good. He has a few good skits, but overall he is unfunny and needs to be replaced.
