I love to set steel in the ground and love even more for others to get interested in it. Offshore does an awesome thread every year so until he gets started back I will try to run my trapline and update every day. So starting with yesterday the catch wasn't that great . My final tally for yestday was two grey fox, 1 opossum, and a house cat.

[[im

The bonus for yesterday was saw this guy in a field circling around a cow with a new calf and shot him

Now I got that song in my head This morning isn't looking as promising we had a big rain last night so it exposed most of my sets. I do have a large coyote or dog wearing a bracelet though. he pulled up a 30 inch rebar stake been tracking him for about an hour and a half

We never staked down trap, always used poles that would hang up in brush. That an option for you or is staking the best way to go for your operation?

I use drags or stakes just according to where I am at. This is only the third time I can remember every having the stakes pulled up one was a big coyote another was a bobcat. This looks to be a big dog. He went straight across a big pasture. If he would have hit the woods he would have hung up by now

Stakes seemed to result in chewed off feet more often than drags is what PawPaw always said.

Good luck, keep us updated

I actually had 2 traps set right there together one was staked the other on a drag. They were around a cow of mine that died and I buried that they started digging up. If photobucket would cooperate I have a pic of that set when I made it.

Cool thread.

A long, long, time ago, when I was a youngin, we used to trap coons on the side of a lake.

Sets were so easy. Pick a tree in about 6" of water, set trap under the water, cover with a few leaves, nail a bird etc to tree above trap, profit.

Profit being a subjective word there, but was fun all the same.

You seem to have it going on with your sets!

Not as good as the one I got today I like the color of today's a little better What's funny is my truck got stuck so I had to walk those sets and didn't take my catch pole. You haven't really lived till you try to get a house cat out of a trap without hurting it. That was a mean son of a gun

I turn them loose that trap is actually across a pasture from a barn where there are cats milling around but a big bobcat was spotted there the other day so I set to try to get him

Great thread but if you don't please remove the non target catches. PETA loves to get their hands on photos like that.
