So with your logic, if any number of adults agrees to relationship that they call a marriage then the government must offer legal protection for that relationship?
This is what I get for assuming you would actually look up due process before discussing these matters with me again.

You're uninformed and unprepared to discuss this intelligently. Do some reading and chat with me some other time.

I understand what you are saying about due process, however you are avoiding my question that is just trying to explore the statement that you made.

I am not bring rhetorical. I am trying to understand your viewpoint. No need for insults.

Quit acting supercilious. I am asking for people to explain their views.

Polygamous marriage rights and incestuous marriage rights are not protected, and that is not a violation of due process as enumerated in the 14th Amendment.

Same sex marriage rights are not unequivocally protected, and that is such a violation.

You're asking the same silly questions about this issue, and the above points have been made to you, and you seem to have ignored it for a few laps.

re: And just when you thought West Monroe couldn't get any gayer...

Personally, I don't understand why granting marriage licenses is the responsibility of the state. That's why I argue for eliminating the need for government to know or care about marital status (income tax primarily) and creating a community property contract that allows any number of consenting adults to pool their assets into a community property which can be dissolved and reapportioned to its former members via terms similar to that of divorce.

Personally, I don't give a flying frick what anyone does as long as it doesn't violate my or anyone else's rights. However, I firmly believe that a vast majority of the resistance to gay equality is in semantics. The shear fact that gays want to use the word "marriage" to define their unions makes traditional families shudder. Marriage has a very clear and defined meaning that does not include homosexual unions. Marriage is a social compact generally designed to create and rear viable offspring and to help unite separate families to help foster a sense of community. Gay marriage cannot "produce" offspring, they can only adopt. Studies are still not finalized as to what the long-term effects are, psychologically, on a child raised in such an environment. Therefor, since the word "marriage" is being used for homosexual unions, it makes me a little leery to support it because it goes against what I believe and interpret the meaning of marriage to be.

Short version: government shouldn't need/be able to decide who can and cannot get "married"; most gay marriage opponents only oppose it because it's being called "marriage" and not anything else.

What rights of homosexuals are being violated?

Marriage is a social union, and within that union exists something, be it property, children, monogamy(?), etc. Each party in a marriage has rights. Our government protects rights. It makes no sense to have government uninvolved in the institution of marriage.

I haven't been asleep. Stop trying to deflect from your weak argument by being sarcastic.

Tell me what specific right of homosexuals is being denied?

If you can't answer that simple question, your entire premise is flawed.

If you want to argue that two people who have not in the past been recognized as marriage partners should now be recognized as marriage partners, you must demonstrate that marriage law (not civil rights law) has overlooked or misidentified something that it should not have overlooked or misidentified. You can't. For thousands of years, marriage law has concerned itself with a particular kind of enduring bond between a man and a woman that includes sexual intercourse—the kind of act that can (but does not always) lead to the woman's pregnancy. A homosexual relationship, regardless of how enduring it is as a bond of loving commitment, does not and cannot include sexual intercourse leading to pregnancy. Thus it is not marriage inasmuch as marriage was well defined in law long before our civil laws were written.

Irrelevant.

Same sex marriage is older than recorded history.
