Birthday dinner tonight. Had 630 reservation, so was not surprised or impressed to be seated early. We were seated promptly in the corner table, which was nice because we had a party of 7, one of whom was a 3y/o(they were made aware of this ahead of time). Table backed in to corner, so we were able to trap/contain the little one.
Waitress immediately came and asked what the little one wanted (sprite in a foam cup with a top), which was brought promptly. Special drinks ordered by the table included house bloody mary, daiquiri, Mississippi Mule. I had the mule. it was huge...served in a 16oz copper mug, which was full and stayed freezing the whole time.
Apps included fried oysters, boudin balls, sweet breads, and fried eggplant. everything was great, but the oysters were the star...sweetbreads close second.
I had the veal porterhouse with ham jous reduction. The porterhouse was substituted with a chop. It was well cooked, tender and the jous was delicious.
Others had scallops (like butter), gulf fish (not bad, not great) and short ribs milanese. Short ribs were the best dish of the night. Presentation, texture, flavor were all very good.
Overall, I was very impressed. I eat out at a nice restaurant in BR maybe once a month. This was the best meal from beginning to end that i can remember. Will definitely be back.

Is this that newer place down on Perkins? Close to ACME? It's on the right if you're going west?
