When was the last time we got lucky and were helped by another team?

Have we ever? The last time I remember a situation like this was in 2004 when we needed the Jets to beat the Rams and they ended up losing in overtime after a missed field goal. We were on a 4 game winning streak and getting hot at the right time. All we needed was to get in and we could have made some noise. My point is we never seem to end up the beneficiaries when depending on other teams for seeding.

Glad that didn't happen, Haslett might be here.

I wish we could have made our own luck last weekend and stopped the panthers on that last drive.

Chicago beat Minnesota in 2009 in order for us to clinch the one seed. We weren't dependent on it to happen, but we didn't beat Tampa that week to clinch and would have had to beat Carolina on the road the next week.

2011 we needed frisco to lose to st. louis in week 17 to get the bye and they almost did, but they didn't
2010 we needed atlanta to lose to carolina and we'd get the #1 seed, but we didn't beat tampa bay and we took out our starters once we realized atlanta was kicking butt
2007 we had to beat chicago and get help but we lost and didn't get it...
2002 we did get our help when atlanta lost to cleveland in week 17, but it was moot when we got shut down by carolina in the dome and aaron brook's shoulder hurted him

2004 is a bad memory. Saints got screwed. There was a 3 way tie for the 6th spot.
Saints
Vikings
Rams
They took Minnesota based on conf record, then STL based on head to head. Vaguely remember but a 3 way tie had never happened and Haslett didn't understand why STL jumped us.
But I agree NO is rarely helped by other teams. I think Chicago beating Minn during the 2009 season might count. Kept Saints in front for home field.
