Ive been a fan of this team for about 20 years. And i dont remember anytime when we have needed someone to win/lose to either make the playoffs or up our seeding in the last week of the season and it successfully happening. Even if we got the break we needed, we didnt win our own game. Can any of you remember such an instance?

1990 we got in at 8-8 and was 6-8 at one point. I was 11 so can't say I remember the details but something's needed to go our way. I do remember beating the 49ers in San Fran to go 7-8.

Didn't the Vikings lose in week 16 in 2009 to allow the saints to sit Brees in week 17?

Yup. The correct answer to this question is 2009.

Overtime TD on a long pass from Jay Cutler. I can still hear Tirico saying, "And the road to the super bowl goes through New Orleans!"

Great call for what turned out to be a crucial moment.

I can't for the life of me remember the year maybe 1990 but we needed the cowboys to lose to some awful(detroit or atlanta come to mind) team to make the playoffs which they did.

I remember listening to the game on the radio at a uncle's house is the reason I recall...

ETA: Looked up the 1990 NFL schedule. Dallas lost to atlanta and finished 7-9... We played Monday night against the rams which makes sense for the play in for the playoffs since Dallas lost.

We needed Dallas to lose because the Saints lost to them 17-13 so they owned the tie breaker.

I remember this, seems like the Falcons had to beat Dallas, and they did, then we won on MNF, beat the Rams I think, Lost to Da Bears in the playoffs.

Just out of curiosity, what was the year that we only needed to win one more game to make the playoffs, and then lost the last three? Am I remembering correctly?

2002, lost last 3 games when all they needed was a victory to clinch a playoff spot, one of them to Cincinnati who had won only one game prior to that win. Good ole Aaron Brooks

Wasn't 02 the Turley vs the Jets game? We were in scoring position and that play put us out of it if I remember correctly.

I have a very, very vague memory of a pissed Jimmy Johnson being interviewed after that Cowboys loss

What was the year NO won their first 7 games and still missed the playoffs?

I'm sure the Steve Walsh trade took some sting off for Jimmy.

Seems like 03??? Was that Haslett or Mora? I don't remember Ditka sniffing the playoffs.
