Try Chargesmart.com. Of course there are fees involved, but maybe your credit card benefits/rewards would make up the difference.

Make a pot of coffee and spend a few hours reading the Bluebird thread on Flyertalk.
Be careful . Once you open that door, it's hard to close it and a "few hours" turns in to countless hours.

Yes, indeed. After spending a week on that board, my dog had his own EIN, was running two businesses out of my backyard shed, and had six credit cards.

Basically you don't understand money laundering.

Between flyertalk and TD I have easily saved/benefited over $10,000 in items or money.

Care to give some summary points or links to good threads? I tried to read that Bluebird thread on Flyertalk, and I haven't the slightest clue what I just read. I got maybe to page 15 and still wasn't sure what exactly I was reading.

I really don't have any specific ones but just the suggestions and tips on how to maximize travel rewards for your airline/hotel/rental car program have saved me literally thousands.

I learned a few years ago through FT how to use expert flyer to maximize reward earnings or see if flights were going to be oversold and be #1 on the list for a voucher. Got almost $3,000 in delta vouchers in 2011 and about $1700 in 2012 and $1000 this year.

So you purposefully book flights that are often oversold to take advantage of the vouchers?

Sorta. I would never book my travel JUST to attempt to get a voucher, but when you start flying a ton, you can get an idea of when/what is going to be full. Delta used to allow you to freely change your flight the day of travel for Gold elites and up. If my plans were flexible and wouldn't terribly inconvenience me, I'd log into expertflyer, find a flight that day that had one seat remaining (typically meaning it was oversold) and then offer to volunteer.

You can't really do that anymore based on the restrictions the have put into place. FWIW the above scenario didn't happen as often as me simply ending up on an oversold flight (my travel was primarily Sunday nights, Monday mornings, and Thursday nights). I just often had very flexible plans and could adjust. That combined with finding out about points promos, etc. for hotels, rental cars, etc. has brought me a ton of extra miles/points.

Trip to Tampa for the game for the wife and I will be less than $300 out of pocket for us.

There is an eye opening amount of knowledge you can attain from FT. It's hard to pin point thoughts in to one thread. Reading and asking pointed questions on here(if you don't want to post there. What I did) is my suggestion. As golfer said, I have saves thousands upon thousands from it. Leisure Traveling is no longer a burden to my daily spending habits.

Interesting. Did you just start browsing their forums? It seems like an oddly structured site and a little intimidating to start.

Any help would be appreciated. I fly internationally probably ~8-10 times a year so I am definitely trying to max my travel experiences.

Start reading your forum for your airline, hotel and rental car chain. Then take a look at the credit card options when/if you're needing one.

Mileage run and hotel discount forums are good too.

Most topics have been discussed over there but I hate their search feature so I just start a new thread and someone will chime in with a link to an older thread and eventually a mod will merge it with one.

Don't be afraid to ask questions over there. They can be assholes but are full of knowledge. They also have a PM feature as I posted an issue one time and a DL employee saw it, sent me a PM and gave me his direct line to call and fix the issue. Sent me his email and was able to help me on a few other things too. He was laid off in their last round of cuts but was immensely helpful.

A lot of bloggers "borrow" a lot of material from FT. The benefit being it is more succinct and understandable.

And if Fro sees this Virginia is a damn goldmine
