I haven't really vented about this game yet because I think I'm still in shock. Despite how badly we played offensively, the defense continued to come through time and time again. When the offense does finally come trough, the defense allows two quick scores before the end of each half. What the hell is wrong with this team? Literally one first down stood between us and the 2 seed with a bye. But we shite it down the drain with continued piss poor play calling and terrible prevent defense. I don't whether I'm still in denial because I just can't see how this team could perform so badly when we absolutely needed it. Not saying hope is completely lost yet, but if we lose Sunday and couple potentially even drop all the way out of playoff contention, this could be one of the biggest choke jobs in football I've seen since I can remember.

God I hope we can pull this together.

Agree with this.

Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Uncanny how eerily similar it was to the 49er playoff loss a few years ago. I'm not as disturbed because I've been down this road before. The scenery isn't that much different.

To give due credit ... Newton made a couple of big-time throws on that last drive.

Heck ... on that one long play ... he was getting hit as he threw the ball.

The dude was clutch when it mattered.

I debate myself on whether it was wise to run 3 times ... or, if it would have been better to try and seal the victory by getting 1 stinkin' first down.

I still cant believe that just 4 games back we were talking about having the 1 seed if we beat seattle. Now we can easily be knocked out the playoffs against TB.

This team better find itself and find itself fast or one might as well hang a 'gone fishin' sign around their collective huddles

Shoot, 1 drive yesterday, hell 1 play even was the difference between locking up the 2 seed and resting starters probably, giving them 2 weeks off before their 1st playoff game and now possibly even not making the playoffs.

But that is what makes sports so great, to be honest.

And this is the second time this season this issue has cost the Saints. One first down and they beat New England and don't get the job done. You give Brady the ball back with the game on the line and that is a recipe for disaster. Brees is a top 10 QB, but when the game is on the line and away from the Dome, I don't have a lot of confidence in him.

Well, RR dialed up a decent blitz on the TD. Not his fault Malcom sucks at football.

This has been an ongoing problem for years. Love Sean, but it'd be nice if we could do a better job in that area.

The way the schedule was set up allowed people to think the team was better than it really is. Truth be told, not once this season did I feel like Saints could win the Super Bowl and I've watched every game with the exception of the Dallas game.

I guess you can call it a choke.

But, to be honest, I think you have to tip your cap to Carolina. All things considered yesterday (weather, wind, etc.) their defense was better than our offense all day.

And, on that last drive, they made plays to win. I don't think we played too soft, or too aggressive. They just beat us on that one drive.

Huh? For any shot this team had at making the SB, they had to get at least the second seed to have a bye and at least one home game. Now they're staring down the barrel of a six seed and having to win THREE road games in a row to make the SB. In the last three road games played, the offense has managed to muster 7, 16 and 13 points respectively. In summation, they are spineless on the road and any thought of them winning three straight playoff road games is, based on ample evidence, not very likely. So yes, everything was on the line. And they choked it away.

I understand your frustration. I don't think choke job is a good adjective. We had everything against us this game. Our defense played about as good of 59 minutes as we could have dreamed. Our offense hung tough, made a 97 yard drive late in game to put us up. We showed a ton of grit today. Couple big late passes in prevent D put the nail in our coffin but i wouldn't call it a choke job. Disappointing loss for sure. But it could have been much worse. I think it's a 50/50 game if we see them again at carolina.

the team doesn't call the plays

when you play not to lose you will lose because you are a loser

this loss belongs to the coaching staff you would think they would have learned from the patriots game but once a loser always a LOSER
